A peaceful and relaxing holiday

We stayed for 8 days in this delightful cottage. It had a peaceful atmosphere with views over countryside from the bedroom window and yet was only a few minutes walk from the centre of the fishing village of Cala Figuera. The cottage had been thoughtfully extended and was clean, tidy and fully equipped in a traditional style, with modern conveniences. The high ceilings gave it a sense of space and the garden and barbecue area was perfect for relaxing evenings with a bottle of wine.

Just around the corner was the shared pool and sun loungers which were never overcrowded. Wifi internet access was available around the pool area, although not in the cottage.

Cati was a perfect host, giving us lots of advice on places to go, and was available on-site if needed.

An excellent road system with very little traffic meant that driving was a pleasure. The cottage was 5-10 minutes drive from some beautiful beaches; we especially liked the unspoilt Cala Mondrago set in a nature reserve with pine trees running right down to the white sandy shore. A beach bar sold drinks and snacks; you could treat yourself to a Martini on the rocks or slice of watermelon!

There were plenty of local restaurants to choose from serving traditional Spanish food; just 5 minutes walk along a track at the rear of the cottage led you to the coast and a spectacular restaurant and bar overlooking the sea. The Santanyi area is quite cosmopolitan and mostly untouched by tourism - do not expect English TV, food or pubs. The village had a local Spar selling fresh meat, vegetables and fruit and there was a useful cash point within walking distance.

We found our stay to be refreshingly different in this unspoilt part of Majorca and we highly recommend it.
