Description of holiday gite in Plougasnou, Brittany

The Longhouse (sleeps 14) is built of pink granite and is the left-hand half of an old Breton longhouse. It is about 200 years old and used to be the boulangerie for the local villagers. The ground floor consists of a huge tiled open-plan kitchen/dining-area/lounge and a utility room with toilet, basin, washing-machine and ironing facilities. There are french-windows leading from the kitchen/dining-area out onto a patio with garden furniture for eating meals outside. The kitchen is very well-equiped with gas cooker, microwave and dish-washer and there is a large dining-table with seating for 14. The spacious and attractive open-beamed lounge is dominated by the huge original granite fireplace with wood-burning stove. On the first floor are a bathroom with bath, sink and WC and 3 bedrooms one with 2 single beds, one with a double bed and one with 2 sets of bunk beds and a single bed. The bunk room is fitted with dark curtains to improve your chances of a lie-in and also has children's books and toys! On the first floor and in the attic we have kept the original varnished wooden floors apart from the bunk room but all bedrooms have rugs. In the attic are 2 further bedrooms and a shower room with shower, sink and toilet. These have attractive wood-panelled ceilings and one has a double, a single bed and a cot while the other has a double bed.

The house is fully CENTRALLY HEATED and is ideal for Christmas and New Year breaks. Book early though!

The Crèche (sleeps 2-5) was an ancient stable attached to the
back of the Longhouse and has recently been lovingly converted into an attractive, light and airy gîte. The ground floor consists of an open-plan kitchen/lounge and shower/utility room with shower, toilet, basin, washing-machine and ironing facilities. There are french-windows leading from the lounge out into the garden and a comfortable seating area in which you can relax. There is also a wood-burning stove for use in winter.The kitchen area is well-equiped and has gas cooker, microwave, fridge and cafetière. Upstairs there are two pine-ceilinged bedrooms - one with a double bed and one with a set of bunk-beds and a single bed. The children's bedroom is equiped with toys, games and a little rocking horse.

The Wellhouse (sleeps 2-4 is a petite but charmingly converted old farm building incorporating the ancient well in it's outside west wall and surrounded by flowers. There is a compact, light and airy living-room situated in the south-facing double-glazed conservatory looking down the prize-winning garden. In winter this is heated by a very realistic electric wood-burning stove. The well-equipped kitchen has a gas-cooker, microwave, fridge and cafetière. There is a small bedroom downstairs with double bed and en suite shower/toilet. The attic bedroom with two single beds is reached by a wooden staircase directly from the double bedroom and is much loved by children as it has a low ceiling and is very snug with toys and games provided. There is no washing-machine but we are very happy to do your washing free for you.
