The accommodation is suitable for families with young children through to teenagers or groups of friends looking for something a little bit special. The Manoir is furnished with comfort and elegance in mind, a mixture of local antique and modern furniture, making it a stylish and supremely comfortable home in which to unwind.

It has been decorated throughout with a traditional French feel, and whilst it offers every modern convenience with everything you would expect to find in your own home including Wi-Fi internet access and UK Satellite TV (freeview), it boasts many original features such as exposed beams, stripped floorboards, terracotta tiled floors and an original open fire place with wood burning stove.

We also have plenty of facilities on site to keep everybody entertained including a snooker table and table tennis, bicycles and a childrens play area.

Deposit/Booking Notes: For Christmas and New year Bookings the Manoir will be traditionally decorated, which (along with the feature fire place and wood burning stove roaring away) will create a wonderful festive setting.

A Deposit of 25% of the rental value is payable at the time of making a firm booking.

The balance is payable eight weeks prior to the start date of your holiday. If a booking is made within 8 weeks of the rental period then full payment is required.

A refundable Security Deposit of £200 is payable with the final payment. This will be returned to your bank account at the end of your stay less any damage.

We would strongly recommend that guests take out a comprehensive travel insurance policy covering cancellation, personal belongings, health and public liability as these are not covered by the owners insurance.

A full booking contract detailing all costs and responsibilities will be provided once a provisional booking has been made by e-mail or telephone.

We accept online credit card payments through PayPal as well as payments by internet bank-bank transfer to our UK account or by personal cheque in GBP.

Location description

This is a fascinating area of Brittany giving you the choice of wonderful inland valleys and hills to explore but also being within easy reach of the 3 very different Brittany coasts; west coast for surfing, north coast for rock pools and south coast for glorious sandy beaches.

The location of the Manoir makes it an ideal Brittany holiday destination, giving easy access, Pontivy, Mur-de-Bretagne, Loudeac, Dinan, Mont St Michel, Dinard, Josselin, St Cast and St Brieuc, all very popular tourist attractions in Brittany.

Our Manoir is only 8 kms from Lac de Guerledan where you can enjoy various water sports such as water ski-ing and swimming, or hire a motor boat, canoe, kayak, rowing boat, dinghy or pedalo, or enjoy a lake cruise, or take dinner one evening during the summer months on a floating restaurant. There are also some great places to eat and drink onshore and three small beaches which offer safe bathing for children.

L'Abbaye de Bon Repos:
The abbey was originally built in 1184 and has been successively ruined and rebuilt over the centuries. Its superb setting next to the River Blavet and the Nantes-Brest Canal is well worth a visit: there are weirs, salmon stairs, a former water mill, a mediaeval stone bridge over the river, a restaurant and a very interesting fossil/jewelley/objets d'art shop. Opposite there is a creperie/bar where you can sit and drink while watching the world go by. On Sunday mornings from Easter to October there is an interesting local market where traders sell organic produce and crafts - it’s not just for tourists, it's also popular with locals in Brittany . Not be missed if you are coming on holiday in early August is ‘Le Son et Lumiere’ held at the L’Abbaye de Bon Repos.Visit their web site for more information.

Cycling and Walking - The local area is ideal for bike riding with many small quiet country lanes to explore. Cycle along the tow path of the Nantes/ Brest canal or from Carhaix to Loudeac passing by Lac Guerlédan you can now cycle along the 111 kilometre long consolidated sand trail following the tracks of the old railway line.If you want to leave the track there are 24 round trips which vary in length from 4 ½ to 16 ½ km.

Golf - There are plenty of golf courses for the keen golfer. Golf de Rimaison at Pontivy is a 9 hole par 70. It has a good club house with refreshments available. The Ajoncs Dor is about 40 minutes drive away and is a 9 hole flat course, also there is a beautiful course overlooking the sea at Val Andre.

Fishing - There are numerous fishing lakes close to our Manoir including those in St Gilles Vieux Marché, St Guen and Lac Guerledan. Fishing permits for public waters can be obtained from local newsagents (tabac) or bars and a fishing licence covers all local areas and cost around 10 euros per day / 30 euros for 2 weeks.

Equestrian Activities - There are a number of ‘poney clubs’ in the area where you can hire a hack by the hour, around 15 euros, or for the day at about 75 euros, or you could have lessons and learn to ride. There is Guerlédan Riding school near the lake and there is a horse museum in nearby Corlay.

Markets - The nearest is at Mur de Bretagne on a Friday evening with the main part in the square but also dotted along the side streets. Traditional Breton dancing and lots of different general stalls, food, plants clothes etc and also live chickens/turkeys and ducks.

Travelling to Brittany is easy by either sea or air. There is a choice of ferry routes across the channel or you could fly. The nearest international airports are Dinard and Rennes about an hours driving time from us with low cost flights from various UK destinations.
