The ground floor of this 200 year old house is open plan, with exposed beams and stone walls.

The lounge area has a sofa and chairs facing a TV and video with a selection of films. The massive fireplace has been carefully restored.

The fitted kitchen is equipped with a gas cooker, dishwasher, fridge and microwave. (The washing machine is located in the bathroom).

On the first floor are:

Bedroom 1, a double bedroom with views over the pool area.

Bedroom 2, a twin bedroom overlooking the courtyard.

The modern bathroom is across the landing from both bedrooms.

Through the rear door you will find your own patio area, complete with a gas barbecue, table, chairs and sun loungers. From here you can see the pool area and across the Gibourne valley

Gibourne itself is a traditional French village, untouched by modern times, peaceful and tranquil and surrounded by rolling farm land.

The market town of Matha is only a few minutes drive away.To the west, only 20 minutes' drive is the ancient town of St Jean d'Angely with its narrow streets and weekly markets. To the south, Cognac and the city of Saintes are both about a 30 minute drive. The coastline of the Charente-Maritime is ideal for lazy days at the beach
