Description
Les Fougeres is self catering accommodation consisting of two properties, a detached cottage and a gite. Situated in the hamlet of La Coupaudais, just outside the village of St Helen in the department of Cotes d'Armor - Northern Brittany.
Surrounded by beautiful countryside but also near to towns and cities, it is well placed for a relaxing holiday as well as being close to lots of interesting places to visit and explore. The medieval town of Dinan is just 10 minutes drive.
The port of St Malo is 15 minute's away which lies at the mouth of the river Rance. The coastal seaside town of Dinard is approx 20 minute's drive and has magnificent beaches. Dinard has an airport with daily flights to and from Stansted and Bristol. The city of Rennes is about a 20 minute drive, and is excellent for shopping with designer shops and wonderful restaurants. Rennes has an airport with flights to and from Southampton, Manchester, Dublin, Exeter, Edinburgh and Belfast.
The gite was last used as a residential property in 1936 and was being used by a local farmer to store his cider barrels and apple press. We renovated in 2004. The gite sleeps 5 plus cot, has full central heating throughout and a large open fire place with log burner. Again this property is ideal for holidays all year round. The ground floor has an open plan lounge / diner with a galley style kitchen area. The focal point of the ground floor is the large original fireplace. The lounge area has comfortable sofas and English TV with all freeview channels and a video with a selection of videos, games and books. The dining area has a pine table and six chairs. The kitchen has fitted units with an integrated dual fuel cooker. There is also a fridge with freezer compartment and large selection of kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery, pot's, pans and serving dishes. There is a patio door which leads to the rear garden. The spacious bathroom has been fitted with a large shower cubicle and a sink. For our smaller guests there is a baby bath. There is a separate toilet next to the bathroom. The first bedroom has a large oak double bed, oak wardrobe and side cabinet. The second bedroom has a single pine bed and a set of pine bunk beds with a pine wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is a pine cot, stairgate and highchair if required.
There is a large garden to the rear of both the properties that has been lawned and includes a 15ft round above ground swimming pool. The gardens are enclosed with gates at the entrances. To the front of the cottage is a gravel driveway with a parking area to the side. Beyond the driveway is a two-acre meadow for all guests to roam and explore. This leads on to the Foret de Coetquen which includes mapped out walks to follow. To the front of the Gite there is a gravelled area which incorporates an ancient bread oven, with a walled pergola area. Outdoor games and equipment are provided, such as swimming pool, paddling pool, badminton set, tennis, soft ball, cricket, footballs, frisbees etc. We have also converted a small barn between the gite and cottage into a utility room which houses a washing machine, sink, airer, iron and ironing board. BBQs and garden furniture are provided for all guests.

Location description
Set in beautiful country side you really can do as much or as little as you want. Some laze around in the gardens, lunching having the odd glass of wine... or two and others go through the entire tourism office catalogue of things to do. Here are just a few things in the area......
COBAC PARC is a day out for the whole family but the kids will especially enjoy it. There is so much to do from swimming to mini golf. The park includes a boating lake, bouncy inflatables and large water slides. If this all sounds too much you could just relax or sunbathe in the fabulous grounds. www.cobac-parc.com
MONT ST MICHEL is a small island about 45 minutes away and is a must to visit. It is celebrated for its Benedictine abbey. There are monastic buildings, which date from the 13th century and are considered outstanding examples of Gothic architecture.
CHATEAU/ZOO is set in a beautiful wooded area and is open to the public with daily tours. There are wonderful gardens, which you can walk around and picnic. The zoo contains exotic and rare animals from five continents, with live shows every day. www.labourbansais.bom
GOLF Dinard Golf Course - Although located in Saint-Briac-sur-Mer, Dinard Golf Club was founded by a small colony of British residents living in Dinard at the end of the 19th century. Dinard Golf Club is set amongst a sensitive natural environment that is home to a number of rare animal and plant species. DINARD is known as the city garden by the sea. It has a superb seaside location with magnificent beaches. You can visit the beautiful gardens where the plants and flowers are from the mediterranean. DINAN is one of the finest of all Brittany's towns of architectural interest. There are many half-timbered houses and Romanesque and gothic churches. It also has an impressive castle, which overlooks the river Rance. You can walk down to the port along the Rue du Jerzual, which is steep and cobbled.
