Description of holiday finca in Estacion Cortes de la Frontera, Andalucia
The "casita"/apartment has its own entrance on a different face of the farmhouse from our front door and is a total of 40 sq metres.
Inside is the kitchen/diner with all the normal facilities for you to self-cater:
2 ring electric hob
microwave and grill combined
refrigerator
toaster
juicer
cafetiere
kettle
and all the other bits and pieces!
A pine dining table and two chairs and two comfy easy chairs form the sitting area.
The bedroom area is off the kitchen/diner and has a double bed, bedside tables with lamps, a double wardrobe and a storage chest. All linen is provided and changed when needed and at least once per week.
The large bathroom lies off the kitchen/diner and has a full sized bath with shower over, a bidet, loo and basin. We provide all the towels (and pool towels) so you don't have to weigh down your suitcase.
You may also watch UK TV in the apartment and listen to UK radio via our satellite dish. There's a Wi Fi connection for those who canīt avoid the internet during their stay
There's a table and bench ouside the door for al fresco breakfasts and lighting so you don't break a leg coming home late at night!
Our entrance gates are on a tarmac road with no rough tracks to negotiate and parking within the finca gates is quite secure.
The design of the building keeps it cool in summer, but a cooling fan is available. A safe, wall mounted gas heater provides the necessary warmth in the winter.
All guests receive a complimentary "welcome pack" of essential groceries - tea, coffee, bread, milk, eggs, wine, beer - etc. avoiding the need for immediate shopping should you arrive out of normal shopping hours.
One thing though! Please do not smoke in the apartment.
Outside, it's not a problem.
Outdoors there is a dedicated sun terrace on the south side of the building with loungers and a garden table and chair set. there is shading from the fierce summer sun and from this terrace it is a short hop down to the pool which we share with you. We have a barbecue (two in fact, but the "real" barbecue should not be used in high summer because of the risk of fire so we also have a gas powered one!).

Location description
Attached to our house, but completely self contained, is our one bedroom studio apartment with all the amenities necessary for a relaxing holiday in this beautiful, mountain region of southern Spain.
We are about a 45 minute drive from the historic city of Ronda, and just over an hour from the Costa del Sol beaches at Estepona, Manilva, Sotogrande and Sabanillas if the inland tranquility gets too much for you.
The white villages (pueblos blancos) for which this part of Andaulcia is famed are all on our doorstep and you can lose a whole day just wandering their narrow donkey-width streets and sipping coffe, brandy, anis, or what you will in the many local bars. We are surrounded by mountains up to 3000ft all of which can be walked using our guide books in the apartment and the views from the tops are spectacular, including, on clear days, the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and the Rif mountains of Morocco. For the less agile, the same books have detailed walks through lower valleys and the cork forests that surround us
We are on migration routes for birds from and to Africa and the sight of eagles, vultures, kites and buzzards can be quite spectacular. The local wild flowers - including on our own finca - provide a stunning display from March through to June and are (sadly) an indication of what we've lost in much of northern Europe.
Our village can provide all your basic needs and the nearby larger villages of Cortes and Gaucin have surprisingly sophisticated restaurants and bars to entice you.
Other activities
We have a very lively and active local art scene and we can put you in touch with art tutors or you may paint to your heart's content anywhere the stunning views and white painted villages inspire you.
Local events
Easter is a big event throughout Spain and the parades locally and especially in Ronda and Seville are worth watching. The local "Ferias" mostly take place in July and August with much singing and dancing and carousing until dawn. Fortunately we are just far enough away to miss most of the noise but can walk into the village to enjoy the fun. Gaucin, our neighbouring village, has a flamenco scene if you wait until midnight for the "duende" to kick-in and Cortes has a bull ring if that aspect of Spanish life interests you.
Tourist attractions
The limestone caves of the Cueva del Gato system are 30 kms away and the Cueva (Cave) de la Pileta with its primitive cave paintings are about a 25Km drive and on the way to Ronda. This latter town with its Arab and Roman history is a "must visit" placce for most guests as is Sevilla (about 2 hours away).

Directions
Although our nearest airport is Gibraltar, most guests use Malaga (2 hours by road) as it links to most UK and european airports. Seville and Jerez airports are also sometimes used and are about a 2 hour drive away. We give all guests comprehensive driving instructions. We recommend Helle Hollis (www.hellehollis.com) for car hire and have negotiated a discount with them. Quote F0859 in the "Friends and Family" section of their on-line booking form and get your 15% off. It is possible to get here by rail from London (about 36 hours!) and, of course, from anywhere on the Spanish rail network.
