Description of holiday farmhouse Poitou-Charentes
Le Roc approached by private drive through pine forest is a traditional Charentaise stone farmhouse set in 4 acres of tranquil grounds with orchard & small carp lake. Surrounded by rolling fields & wooded hillsides only 3km from Aubeterre one of France's prettiest villages. The original barn is our full-time family home since moving to France from England in 2007 and in addition we have renovated two gites for holiday rental:
Gite #1 LA PETITE MAISON the ancient farmhouse: 4-bedrooms 2-bathrooms sleeps 8. Private terrace with BBQ to front of house. Ground floor entrance hall leading to kitchen & dining room and lounge. Stairs to 1st floor landing. Two double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms. Two shower rooms each with WC.
Gite #2 LE PIGEONNIER at one time a pigeon tower: 2-bedrooms 1-bathroom sleeps 4. Private garden with BBQ to rear of house. Ground floor entrance to kitchen & dining room. Hallway to twin bedroom and shower room with WC. Stairs leading to lounge with double doors opening onto pergola. Second staircase leading up to double bedroom in tower with amazing views.
Outside the property is totally secluded with our nearest neighbour 1km away. Swim in the gorgeous pool shared by us with our guests or simply relax on the surrounding paved area with a good book and enjoy the view. The garden looks out over the surrounding sunflower fields and woodland where you'll often see Monkjack and Roe deer strolling around. You'll hear the woodland birds and see the unmistakeable Hoopoe bird. A wide variety of birds of prey can be seen circling the skies and we are lucky enough to have colourful kingfishers on our small lake where the kids love to feed bread to the tame carp!

Deposit/Booking Notes: Rental prices shown are in GBP per property per week from Saturday to Saturday. In addition linen hire is available at 10 EUR per person per change paid on arrival. Towels are not included. Only bookings of 2 weeks (or more) can be made for July and August. A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required to secure your booking. The balance plus a refundable security deposit of 250 GBP to be paid 8 weeks prior to rental start date.

Location description
In the southern Charente close to the Perigord, AUBETERRE sits high up above a bend in the river Dronne. It's charming narrow streets wind through white stone houses & ancient buildings. Built in the shape of an amphitheatre this former stronghold is classified as one of France's prettiest villages. A fine sandy beach is maintained along the banks of the river Dronne in a shady spot where you can swim and fish safely. Close to the snack-bar canoes can be hired during spring and summer, a fun way to enjoy the Dronne Valley.Other activities
