Description of holiday farmhouse near Orgiva, Andalucia

The accommodation is in an old traditional moorish style farmhouse and comprises studio lounge with double bed, twin bedroom, and large kitchen-diner with glass doors at either end leading to the patios and swimming pool. There is a bathroom off the studio with new shower, toilet and wash basin and outside access for the other bedroom. We provide sheets, bedding and all crockery, towels and tea towels, but please bring beach towels. We have changed as little as possible so the place remains simple and atmospheric. It contrasts sharply with the modern high-rise world of the costas. You will encounter low ceilings, real beams and natural materials .

There is a 9m by 4m swimming pool with filter and ionizer and its own seating and patio area.

Location description

The cortijo is idealy situated being tuckked away on a back track yet close enough to allow a casual stroll into the village or to two more local bars all via quiet safe tarmaced tracks. Further afield are the flower decked and steeply sloping white mountain villages with amazing mountain backdrops and superb walking and biking.We are less than an hour from Granada with its world renowned Alhambra moorish castle, palace and gardens, and about 40 minutes from various beaches both tiny cliff backed bays and resorts.

Other activities

Sailing and wind surfing as well as canoeing are possible nearby.There are castles in Salobrena and Almunecar and caves with organised tours in Nerja.

Orgiva and other villages all have their fiestas.

Directions

We send full directions once you have a finalised booking. There is a reasonable bus service from Granada and connections for Malaga with one direct bus a day in th afternoon. See Alsa.es. There are also bus connections for Almeria and more local routes extend into the higher mountain villages. Car hire can be arranged at any of the airports. You might try Malaga car hire. It is also quite possible to come overland by car if you can allow a few days or quite quickly via Brittany Ferries service to Santander in Northern Spain.
