The area is predominantly agricultural and unspoiled by tourism and the people, friendly.
Eating out, there is an amazing number and variety of local restaurants and bars to enjoy. This is the only area now in Spain where the local bars still give a free Tapa (a bite of food) to be enjoyed when buying a beer or a similar drink.

Location description
The climate is sub tropical, sheltered from the northern winds by the Sierra Nevada and close to the coast of Africa. This enables the growing of exotic fruits such as avocados, bananas, mangos and custard apples as well as the citrus fruit family and only place in Europe where Sugar Cane is grown.
The area is predominantly agricultural and unspoiled by tourism and the people, friendly. A few words of Spanish learned go a long way.
Eating out, there is an amazing number and variety of local restaurants and bars to enjoy. This is the only area now in Spain where the local bars still give a free Tapa (a bite of food) to be enjoyed when buying a beer or a similar drink.
The Granada region of Andalucia is still a relatively undiscovered area of Spain, and is steeped in history, yet is still able to retain its very traditional Spanish roots. Offering the rare combinations of the rugged mountains dropping into the warm Mediterranean seas of the Costa Tropical, pretty & friendly coastal fishing villages, quiet beaches (26 in total), secluded coves, and the contrasting historic white Alpujarras villages nestled to the North in the stunning mountains, all with the back drop of the mighty Sierra Nevada mountains and ski resort. There must be few places in the world where you can ski 3000m above sea level in the morning, and return to sea level and sunbathe or swim in the afternoon.
Other activities
Golf course, Horse Riding, Walking/Hiking, Bird watching, Tennis, Mountain Biking, 4x4 Safaris & Excursions, Quad Biking, Paragliding, Swimming, Snorkelling, Scuba Diving, Skiing & SurfBoarding.
