This lovingly renovated 19th century farmhouse is located in the beautiful Vendee region of France.
An ideal setting for a romantic honeymoon or special family occasion.

The Retreat is set, in the centre of a small rural hamlet. Ideal for a quiet holiday in the sun, the Vendée is said to equal anywhere in France for hours of sunshine each year. The climate means the season extends from Easter to late October - the average monthly temperature in September is 70 degrees.

Le Retraite sleeps 8 people comfortably in four bedrooms.

The accommodation comprises:
The master bedroom has a double bed, antique wardrobe and chest of drawers. Although, beware the low beams!

The second bedroom has a double bed. It has a large wardrobe, windows that open out onto the garden, a table and chair and a chest of drawers.

The third bedroom has a double bed, a table and seat and a large antique wardrobe.

The fourth bedroom has twin beds and is ideal for children or adults. This contains seating and a chest of drawers.

The main living area has a 3 seater sofa, television with a selection DVD player and a large coffee table.

Kitchen/Dining area with seating for 8. At one side is the kitchen, with modern units, a gas cooker, fridge freezer, washing machine and microwave. A door leads out onto the patio where there is a table, chairs and parasol for dining outdoors.

Location description

Le Retriate is set in the centre of the small village of La Jousseliniere and is less than a 10 minute drive from the bustling town of Sainte Hermine which has many bars, restaurants and shops.

Thire is a small pircturesque town, a short 15 minute walk or cycle away, which has a small pizza-pub and number of other facilities

It is also only a 45 minute drive from the sandy beaches of the Southern Vendée.

A 40 minute drive will bring you to the lively port of La Rochelle - a great place to spend a day or an evening - with good restaurants and many events throughout the year.

Driving from the UK
The cross channel ferries from Portsmouth and Poole to St Malo, Caen and Cherbourg in Northern Brittany give you the least driving time in France (3½ - 5 hours). While the Dover-Calais routes give the shortest crossing time, travelling time in France increases to around 7 hours.

From Caen, drive generally south on the free autoroutes A84 and N137 to Nantes and then join the A83 south towards Bordeaux but leave it at the junction with the D137 and head towards Sainte Hermine. From Sainte Hermine join the D8 until you see the left turn for La Jousseliniere.

From the Calais area, follow autoroutes to Rouen, Le Mans, Angers and Cholet. Leave the A87 at the junction with A83 south towards Bordeaux but leave it at the junction with the D137 and head towards Sainte Hermine. From Sainte Hermine join the D8 until you see the left turn for La Jousseliniere.

By plane from the UK and Ireland
It is now possible to get cheap flights from many of the regional airports in England, Scotland and Ireland to La Rochelle, Poitiers and Nantes. These airports are all between 45 minutes and 1 1/2 hours drive from our property.
