Description of holiday farmhouse near Cerkno, Gorenjska

This is a special place steeped in character with 4 star modern facilities. Rolling farm meadows, forests, an abundance of wild life (red and roe deer, gams and eagles to name but a few). There are activities for everyone and it is available all year round. Cerkno ski centre is 15 miles away.We invite fly fishermen to enjoy the Idrica river famous for it's marble trout and only 5 minutes walk away. On-site we offer a specialist selection of relaxation and sports injury massages to suit our guests needs. Farm delicacies include goat, lamb, beef and pork meat. Home made salamis. Fresh milk, eggs and selection of cheeses. Seasonal vegetables, salad and fruit. Home baked bread and pizza. Activities include skiing/snowboarding, fishing, walking, mountaineering, rafting, horse riding, swimming, quad riding, canyoning with many places of historical and cultural interest.

Farmhouse Apartment 1 (2 bedrooms sleeps 1/6)
A spacious apartment on the upper 2 floors of the farmhouse.
Bedroom 1 – large king size bed, two windows south facing with Idrijca river valley views, dressing table, mirror and drawers, wardrobe with coat hangers, bedside tables and lamps, hair dryer and radiator.
Bedroom 2 – up a wooden staircase with balcony looking down over the kitchen eating area.
Twin bed, drawers, hanging area, coat hangers, mirror, blanket box, door and windows opening out onto a step out balcony, south facing with Idrijca river valley views.
Large kitchen/eating area adjacent to outside covered veranda. The kitchen is fully fitted with cooker, BBQ outside, microwave, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, food mixer all crockery, cutlery pots and pans are provided. There are tables and chairs inside and out to comfortably seat six people.
Bathroom has a power shower, toilet and basin and an original shaped triangular window. Cot and high chair are available. All bedding and linen provided.

Notes on accommodation
It has full central heating throughout. The accommodation is spacious ideal for individuals, couples, groups and families with children.

Outside
The farmhouse owns 16 hectares of farm land and forests surrounding the property. There are paths and trails to follow to investigate the forest and it's wildlife. A stream runs through the land down to the Idrica River where there are deep clear pools for fishing and beautiful waterfalls. There is private parking for 4 cars, gardens and BBQ area around the farmhouse. The owners are flexible and you could arrange with them to have a walk and they could deliver a picnic for example. They live on-site and can help organise anything from excursions to fishing licences. Or just leave you to relax in peace.

Location description

Coast/Beach
The Slovenian coast is only 2 hours drive away and well worth a visit we would recommend Piran for it's beauty and culture an old Venetian Town and Strunjan beach for the best swimming and cleanest water. Lipica horse stud is also on the way to the coast only 1.5 hours drive. Alternatively you can drive to the italian coast Sestiana beach and Grado beaches are approximately1.5 hours drive near to Triest and the Airport.

Skiing
Cerkno is the best equipped and most modern ski resort for families and groups in Slovenia. It has the fastest and only covered in chair lift in Slovenia. The town of Cerkno is 10 miles from the slopes and is linked to the ski center by ski bus. Tilnik Farmhouse accommodation is 5 miles from Cerkno, 15 miles from Cerkno ski centre.Cerkno is ideal for families on a budget.

We can arrange a local guide to show you the best places to cast and find the large hybrid Soca Trout,Marble Trout, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Grayling, Italian Barble and Chub. The Soca River is also nearby and opportunities to get a car train through the mountains to Lake Bohinji/ Lake Bled. The licences can also be pre-arranged.
