There's something very magical about Swallow Cottage that is hard to describe, it might be its idyllic location in deep countryside, and the lovely lawns and gardens that surround it. It might be the tastefully decorated and thoughtfully furnished interior that makes it such a nice place in which to eat, sleep and socialise. Or it might be the easy access to some glorious beaches and charming seaside resorts along the North Devon coast.

Swallow sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms, 1 ,master bedroom with large double bed and en suite bathroom and 2 twin rooms (1 with full-size bunk beds). There's also a family bathroom with separate bath and shower. All these rooms are on the ground floor. Step up the wooden doleg staircase to a light and airy open plan living area with a kitchen diner at one end a comfortable lounge space at the other.

The kitchen is fully equipped to provide everything from microwaved meals to a gourmet feast and includes electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine/drier. The lounge contains such essentials as a decent TV with Freeview, DVD, CD player, a small library and board games.

The whole cottage is heated with thermostatically controlled radiators.

Outside Swallow has its own private Victorian walled garden with large lawn and herbaceous border complete with rose covered arbour, dining furniture and BBQ.

The rental includes al electricity and heating costs, bed liinen and towels plus a fresh-baked sponge or scones with jam and crea, to greet guests on arrival.

Location description

Swallow Cottage is located on the Buttercombe Barton Estate (where there i also a second cottage: Tawny. Buttercombe is 2-3 miles inland from Woolacombe and a similar distance to Ilfracombe.

Picturesque West Down Village is only a mile away with its traditional village shop and pub.

The nearest resorts and beaches are those of Woolacombe (wonderful for surfing or building sandcastles), Mortehoe and the Victorian splendour of Ilfracombe with its fishing harbour (for day trips to Lundy Island). Away from the beaches North Devon offers superb walking and sites of interest from Exmoor to Clovelly.
