Welcome to Cherry Tree Holiday Cottage, located in a small picturesque village – Barkestone Le Vale in the heart of the Vale of Belvoir between the market towns of Melton Mowbray, Newark, Nottingham and Grantham. An ideal holiday base for everyone, including those visiting nearby relatives. This 18th Century character cottage was once three individual properties. Completely renovated and modernised it now makes one larger cottage, ideal for families, including the dog, or couples for a romantic relaxing break. Recently redecorated to high standard with a contemporary style that compliments the unique historic character of this cottage.

This cottage makes an ideal base for everyone. There are beautiful walks and renowned cycling on the doorstep by Grantham canal and Belvoir castle. There are also many options for horse riders. There are a wide selection of country pubs offering award winning food. You will enjoy fantastic scenery and many varied attractions in the local area. Belvoir Castle is a couple of miles away and within view of Barkestone le Vale. Rutland water and numerous country houses are in the vicinity. Families are well catered for too: all local pubs welcome children and dogs, and days out include the nearby Twin Lakes farm/theme park for children with petting farm and roller coaster rides.

We welcome families including their children and pets as well as couples looking for a romantic getaway. The dog flap (up to spaniel size) will mean you shouldn’t get too disturbed when your dog(s) look for adventure. Our patio area and garden is completely enclosed, making looking after the children easy, and the barbeque and wood fired chiminea should ensure you can make the most of an evening glass of wine. We keep a stock of things for dogs and children so your car boot can close!

We will welcome you to our cottage with a small hamper of complimentary wine, bread and milk, to make your first night a little easier. We ourselves enjoy similar holidays with and without the children. This shows in the added facilities we provide: we’ve toys for all ages, board games and many baby/toddler items (eg bottle warmer, sterillizer). We can also advise on local babysitters.

We offer a 20% discount off the normal weekly rate for single bedroom use, outside of our peak seasons. This is occasionally available for short breaks too - please call

Short breaks, 3 night weekends Fri to Sun, or 4 nights midweek Mon to Thu, are available for 70% of the weekly charge outside of peak season.

High Season Short Breaks are sometimes available at 75% of the weekly charge. Please just ask.

We ask for a 20% deposit to secure your stay and full payment 3 weeks before arrival

Pets are charged at £15 per pet. We accept up to 3 pets upon request.
