Description of holiday cottage in Thiembronne, Nord-Pas-de-Calais

The Chateau was constructed in 1730 on the foundations of an earlier building, then extended over the centuries. The accommodation is in the Gatehouses looking onto a sheltered sunny courtyard.

Large gardens surround the buildings, with lawns, wooded areas and a special part for children with swings slide and play house. As far as possible all original features have been retained (such as exposed beams).

Gatehouse 1 has 3 bedrooms upstairs (sleeps 5), and kitchen-dining-living downstairs, with log fire. In addition there is a breakfast conservatory.

Gatehouse 2 has 2 bedrooms upstairs (sleeps 4), and kitchen-dining-living room downstairs.

The kitchens are well equipped with cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle & fridge etc.

For families with very young children we recommend Gatehouse 2.

Both Gatehouses may be booked together to accommodate larger groups - please contact us for more information.

There is ample off street parking.

A gentle stroll down the tree lined lane brings you into the small village of Thiembronne where the church is well worth a visit. There are 2 bar cafés which often have dinner dances or special meals, plus entertainment.

The nearest town is Fauquembergues (approx 6 minute drive), which has two supermarkets, two good restaurants, several bars, a weekly open market in the church square as well as an assortment of other shops.

The area is dotted with many villages and almost every Sunday there will be a couple of Brocantes (like a boot sale) to visit.

Location description

The region is the Aa valley, the nearest major town is St Omer. This is a peaceful rural part of France yet close to the beaches Berck, Le Touquet, Hardelot, Wimereux. Golfers paradise. 12 minutes to the championship standard St Omer golf course, barely half an hour to the coastal courses Le Touquet, Hardelot, Wimereux, Fort Mahon.
