Description of holiday cottage in Swanage, South West
Steam Railway Cottage is a luxury holiday home. It is a two storey detached cottage adjacent to The Swanage Steam Railway in the heart of the town. It is ideally situated just a short, level 500 yards walk to the town centre and beach. Swanage is great for beaches, walking, rambling, cycling, countryside and much more.
The cottage can accommodate up to 6 people (max 4 adults) plus a baby and comprises of 3 bedrooms.
As you enter the cottage there is a dining area with table and six chairs. The lounge has a flat screen TV with freeview and a DVD player with a selection of DVD’s.
The main bedroom has a King size double bed with an ensuite which has a walk in shower. The second bedroom also has a double bed and is adjacent to the family bathroom and the third bedroom has children's bunk beds.
The family bathroom has a bath with a shower over. There is another toilet on the ground floor.
The kitchen has built in appliances including oven and gas hob, washing machine, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. There is also a microwave, kettle and toaster.
The cottage is double glazed throughout and has gas central heating and is an ideal place to stay throughout the year - it is ideal for families, walkers, cyclists, steam enthusiasts and children who love steam trains.
There is a courtyard garden. The cottage has its own integral garage for parking – parking space is at a premium in Swanage!

Swanage / Swanage Bay area
Swanage is the perfect choice for a traditional seaside holiday and is situated in the heart of the Purbeck Isles. Swanage is a lovely friendly resort that offers a warm welcome to everyone. It’s a perfect base from which to explore the idyllic villages of Corfe Castle, Studland, Lulworth and Worth Travers. Swanage is also the gateway to the Jurassic coast, Dorset's World Heritage Coastline.
Swanage is famous for it’s award winning sandy beach with it's clear unpolluted waters that has won the prestigious European 'Blue Flag' award on many occasions as well as the Tidy Britain Group's 'Seaside Award'. You can hire a deck chairs, boats and pedalos and enjoy the calm waters of the bay. There is also one of the last Punch and Judy shows that perform throughout the summer on the beach.
There are many cultural and musical activities year round - in the summer you have the July Jazz festival and in late July/early August - Carnival week. When spring comes you have the wonderful March Blues Festival, and in the Autumn, the September Folk Festival with October bringing the Purbeck Film festival. At Christmas Swanage hosts the Victorian fair, and there is a year round weekly market. Swanage is also famous for it’s New years street party.
The spectacular Swanage Regatta & Carnival (End of July) is the premium carnival on the South Coast - it is a packed programme of over 100 events for visitors to enjoy including; sailing, rowing, displays, fireworks, competitions, prizes for crabbing, fishing and sand castle building, treasure hunts, and in 2009 there will be a display by the amazing Red Arrows over Swanage bay.
