Ysgubor Hen Cottage
 (1/7)

Description of holiday cottage in St Dogmaels, Pembrokeshire

Ysgubor Hen Cottage is a perfect hideaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Here you can relax and soak up the seaside atmosphere from the haven of a secluded garden, with the many varied treasures of the Welsh coastline to be discovered just a few miles away. The nearest beach, Poppit Sands, is only ten minutes drive from the cottage and, for those who love the pleasures of old Welsh market towns, the county town of Cardigan is a two mile drive, downhill all the way from the cottage. Even nearer is the peaceful village of St Dogmaels, famous for its 12th Century Abbey ruins.

Converted from a 200 year old barn with loads of character, Ysguborhen cottage has its own private garden with picnic table, and offers well-appointed accommodation with a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The garden is fully enclosed, and therefore perfectly safe for children to run free.

Whether you wish to spend time on the beach, take a boat trip, walk the coastal path, discover the wildlife of the area or just enjoy a retreat away from the busy city and day to day life, this is the perfect base from which to enjoy your holiday break.

Directions

If approaching Cardigan from the north (A487), or east (A484), ignore signs for Cardigan town centre, and continue south on the A487. At the roundabout immediately after crossing the river, turn right onto the B4546 and follow this road down the hill.

If approaching Cardigan on the A487 from the south, on reaching the first roundabout, turn left onto the B4546 and follow this road down the hill.

At the bottom of the hill (and before reaching the bridge) turn left signposted to St Dogmaels. Continue for about a mile, passing through the village, past the Post Office and Chip Shop on your left, and the Spa shop on your right. Ignore all turnings to the right, and continue straight ahead up the hill (signposted to Monington). After leaving the 30mph speed limit, the entrance to Ysgubor Hen Cottage is the second driveway on the left – (there is a sign for Pencnwc Farm, beneath that a smaller sign for Ysgubor Hen, a ‘footpath sign’ and an old wheelbarrow with plants in at the entrance to the driveway, so you shouldn’t really miss it. If you reach the top of the hill, you have gone too far!) 100 yds along the driveway, there is parking on the left by the gate ‘Ysgubor Hen Cottage’. Follow the path down the slope, and the door to the cottage is just around the corner.
