Description
A cool, spacious gite. Full of character with exposed stonework and impressive beams.
Downstairs is a large living area with comfy sofas and a wood-burning fire. Satellite tv (all BBC channels) and dvd player. The dining area has a large dining table. French doors lead onto a terrace with barbeque, shaded by a vine-covered pergola.
The kitchen area is well-equipped with cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine, ironing facilities and cleaning products.
A stone staircase from the lounge leads to an attractive beamed landing area. The double bedroom has views over the surrounding fields, and a twin bedroom looks over the garden. There is a shower room with toilet. Both bedrooms are equipped with fans for warm summer nights.
As well as being delightfully cool during the hot summers, Levant is also ideal as a winter let. The insert woodburner vents into the double bedroom and the gite is extremely cosy in cold weather.

Location description
The Lot et Garonne has wonderful scenery and still retains a laid-back way of life from a bygone era. Life is taken at a gentle pace by the locals, and yet for visitors there is so much to do.
Golf and horse riding are close by, and there are several leisure lakes with 'beaches'. For children (and adults!) there is the Parc Walibi theme park in Agen, the 'Arc en Ciel' adventure park with aerial walkways set in woodland close to Fumel, a small water park in nearby Valence d'Agen and a new water park at Nerac. There are numerous water sports on the Lot and Dordogne rivers or if you would rather watch than participate there are boats for hire in Villeneuve and Moissac, or canal/river trips from Agen or Nerac. There is a go-kart track near Agen or, for the occasional cloudy day, there is ten-pin bowling.
Day trips out can include the wonderful scenery of the Lot and Dordogne valleys, Cahors and St Cirq Lapopie, and the larger cities of Toulouse and Bordeaux. The Airbus factory in Toulouse offers tours in English, and there is also a Space Museum there.
This is a wonderful area for walking and nature-lovers, and we often see deer, badgers, red squirrels and the occasional wild boar, numerous birds of prey, golden orioles, and hoopoes. A walk down through our field in early summer is a delight with several varieties of orchids. Twenty six varieties were found in the local area by a Botanical Society who stayed here!
In late spring, many of the local villages hold plant fairs. Our favourite is Tournon d'Agenais, held annually on the 1st May, and the village square is a riot of colour from all the plants and shrubs on sale. It is the signal to get cracking on all the pots and hanging baskets which surround our pool during the summer!
A 'must-do' event during the end of July/early August is the Son et Lumiere event at Valence d'agen. The story takes place in the early days of the canal and describes the lives of people along it. In particular, three boys who are seen at school, going to war, getting married and settling down and there are wonderful depictions of a Pentecost Fair, a wedding and a WWII fight between the Resistance and the SS. The scenery created for the show is an entire village with school, shops, church and houses, plus carts, cars and a 1920s fire engine! 350 local people take part and create a magical evening, accompianied by fireworks and laser shows.
We are close to the wine growing areas of Buzet, Duras and Cahors, and for food lovers this area is a must! Magret and confit of duck, foie gras, melons, plums and soft fruit are all produced locally. Agen is famous for its prunes, and if your only memory of prunes is from school dinners, wait until you try prunes in Armagnac. You will never think of them in the same way again!
Restaurants vary from basic regional cooking to haute cuisine, and prices from 10 euros for a three-course lunch to the somewhat more expensive (!) Michelin-starred 'Trama' restaurant in nearby Puymirol. Rick Stein himself recommends the Station Restaurant at Agen Station!
At the end of a busy day, though, come back to the peace and quiet that is Faysselle, open a bottle of wine on your terrace, watch the sun go down and enjoy the silence!
Other activities
There are a lot of places to visit and attractions to see. We are happy to recommend places according to your interests.
River boat trips from lovely town of Nerac, The Abbey in Moissac. old grain store in Auvillar. Lots of children's activities too, including zoo, waterparc and ariel tree adventures.
Watersports on both Tarn and Lot rivers.
Local events
During July/August, many local villages hold 'Night Food Markets'. Our local village, St Maurin, holds one very Wednesday night during these months and it is hugely popular with holidaymakers and locals alike.
Stallholders sell a variety of meals which are then eaten sitting in the picturesque village square. A band entertain us through the evening, which always ends with some very lively dancing!
