Description of holiday cottage in Lifton, South West

Haybarn is a spacious converted barn with lovely original oak beams. Entrance is from the main courtyard into the open plan downstairs area, where there is the kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen is well-equipped with electric oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer-dryer.

The living area is comfortably furnished with Freeview digital TV, radio/CD and DVD player.

Upstairs are the bedrooms: one double and two twin-bedded rooms, and the bathroom, with power shower over the bath. Bedlinen is provided, but not personal or swimming towels. Travel cots, highchairs and stairgates are available for your use on request at no extra charge.

The cottage is centrally heated with electric night storage heaters. Electricity is metered and charged separately so that you only pay for what you use. Typical costs per week are shown on our website.

Outside is a patio area overlooking the courtyard with picnic table, and shared barbecues are available for your use.

Guests may freely enjoy the onsite facilities: indoor heated swimming pool, games room with pool table, table tennis, board games and books, grass tennis court, fun 9-hole pitch 'n' putt and children's play area. There is a small charge for use of the sauna.

Parking is off road, but on site away from the cottages, to keep the cottage area safer and more restful for all.

Location description

Conveniently situated in the centre of the South West peninsula, West Banbury has easy access to most major attractions. It is near the A30 in West Devon, making getting here and exploring Devon and Cornwall easy. We are in an elevated rural location with southerly views to Dartmoor. Bodmin Moor is also visible to the west.

Roadford Lake is "on the doorstep", offering sailing and other watersports, as well as fishing, birdwatching and an excellent network of footpaths and cycle paths.

Both Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor provide excellent walking and pony trekking, or take a pleasant drive over Dartmoor to enjoy the views, stopping off in a quaint village for a Devonshire Cream Tea!

The North Cornish/Devon coast is only 45 minutes away by car, where you can enjoy the surfing beaches of Bude and Widemouth Bay, rock pools at Crackington Haven, the fishing harbour at Boscastle or King Arthur's Castle at Tintagel. The Eden Project is 45 minutes away and The Lost Gardens of Heligan is 1 hour.

South coast resorts such as Looe and Polperro are also less than an hour's drive.

The area boasts plenty of market towns rich in history, such as Launceston and Tavistock.

There are numerous theme parks, castles, indoor and outdoor activity centres, go-karting, farms and animal sanctuaries - something for everyone.

Directions

From J31 of the M5 motorway, take the A30 heading towards Okehampton and Launceston. Follow the A30 for about 36 miles and take the exit signposted to Broadwoodwidger, Bratton Clovelly and Roadford Lake, about 13 miles after Okehampton.

At the T-junction, turn right over the bridge. Stay on this road, ignoring the turning for Broadwoodwidger, and West Banbury if at the top of the hill, about 1 mile on the right.
