Location description
Lavenham is one of the best kept mediaeval villages in England with many timber buildings, a place to see. There 3 award winning resturants in the village with Marco Pierre White hosting the Angel and many boutique shops. The square is surrounded by ancient buildings such as the Guildhall. Lavenham was once one of the richest places in England at the height of the wool trade but became one of the poorest once the trade collapsed, so the buildings fell in to dis-repair, only in the late seventies did a lot of resuration start so keeping looking like the village we see today. Directions
Lavenham is located near Bury st Edmunds On the A14 corridor.
Follow signs towards Sudbury and after 10mins you will see the sign for Lavenham.
From the south you will come from Colchester on the A12 corridor again follow signs to Sudbury and you will see the sign for Lavenham After 20 mins. Once in the village you need to turn in to Water street and Shilling street is the 3rd on the left.
There is a regular bus service From Bury and Sudbury to the village.
