Description of holiday cottage in Jayac, Aquitaine

Les Crouquets means "The Little Valleys"and it is here, tucked away in the Perigord Noir, one of the most beautiful regions of France, that you will find our 6 charming holiday cottages which date back to 1882.

They are perfectly situated in a secluded valley in the heart of the Dordogne countryside, surrounded by walnut groves and golden corn fields in a wonderfully tranquil setting.

The properties are grouped together in a delightful hamlet, each with their own private terrace, two overlooking the pitch & putt course, and most having views over the green oak covered hills.

The grounds are scattered with fruit & walnut trees and you are more than welcome to help yourself the season's produce.

Le Fournil is a 3 bedroomed cottage reminiscent of old rural France with rugged beams and exposed stone work creating a wonderful homely atmosphere.

This cottage was once the workshop for the farmhands who looked after the estate and the bread oven in the living area would have been the source of the delicious aroma of freshly baked loaves. The oven stretches back for over 2m and still works today.

A large leafy walnut tree provides shade for the rear terrace which overlooks the pool and gardens.

There is also a glorious suntrap at the entrance where you can enjoy the full afternoon sun or relax beneath the shade of the mature horse chestnut tree.

There is one double bedroom with an ensuite shower room on the ground floor. Upstairs are two further bedrooms sleeping up to 6 people and a spacious bathroom with bath and shower mixer.

BOOKING NOTES
Bookings run from Saturday 5.00 pm to the following Saturday 10 am unless agreed otherwise.
A deposit of 30% of the total booking fee is payable at time of booking
Full payment is due 8 weeks prior to arrival
A refundable security deposit is payable on arrival (or with final payment if preferred)
All payments must be made in euros

Please note that where possible, from 11th July until 15th August inclusive, bookings must be for a minimum stay of two weeks

Location description

Les Crouquets is situated in the Perigord Noir, undoubtedly the most visited region of the Dordogne. There is so much to do here for all the family that it would be difficult to be stuck for something to do!

Famous for its gastronomy,this is a food lover's paradise.Delicious black truffles,
cepes, walnuts and foie gras are to be found in abundance.

There are several local producers and too many restaurants to mention, so there's no shortage of places to sample these culinary pleasures.
We'll be more than happy to direct you to our favourites!

A visit to the daily market stalls groaning under the weight of gleaming fresh produce is not to be missed.

The area is also steeped in history and a visit to the numerous underground caves & grottos is a must. The internationally renowned prehistoric caves of Lascaux are a mere 22 mins from Les crouquets.

The area between Sarlat and Perigeux is the one of the most attractive parts of the Perigord and is often referred to as "the land of a thousand castles". There are several very interesting castles within easy driving distance of Les Crouquets.

The medieval city of Sarlat will surely be one of your holiday highlights!
With the highest number of listed buildings per mile in all of Europe, it is is just breathtaking. The stunning architecture, meandering cobbled side streets and plenty of street entertainment make this a special day out.
Geese & ducks are everywhere in the Perigord -they are the speciality of the region and the most delicious foie gras and confit de canard will be found on nearly every restaurant menu and market stall!
