Location description
Situated in a secluded valley, The Badger Sett is one of just a handful of houses that make up the hamlet of Newlands. The lovely Lakeland village of Hesket Newmarket, with its famous co-operatively owned pub and micro brewery, The Old Crown, is just a one mile stroll down a peaceful country lane. The remote Caldbeck Fells are on the doorstep and provide fantastic opportunities for walking and mountain biking and The Caldew and Caldbeck Rivers which run through our valley are excellent for kayaking. The classic peaks of Blencathra and Helvellyn are both close by and provide some of the best walking and scrambling routes in the UK. If you prefer more hustle and bustle the popular town of Keswick is a 25 minute drive away whilst historic Hutton-in-the-Forest with its famous horse trials is just around the corner. For long distance walkers The Cumbria Way passes through our valley and for road cyclists The Reivers Route (known as the Return CTC) goes right past the bottom of our drive!
