Two-storey cottage adjoining attractive lochside home, in large garden, with excellent views. Sleeps 2.

This property has been awarded a 4 Star grading by the Scottish Tourist Board.

The open-plan kitchen/living-room includes oven, hob, extractor, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, tumble-dryer, and washing service. There’s a sofa bed, a feature-fireplace, Satellite TV, Wireless Internet access, DVD, radio/CD-player, plus a selection of books, games etc. and lots of information about the local area.

Upstairs, the double-bedded bedroom has an antique suite, TV, hairdryer, clock/radio, and panoramic Gareloch views. The adjoining bathroom has an over-bath shower, constant hot water, towels and a selection of toiletries.

A cot or single futon are available, but there's a maximum of 3 persons in this accommodation. We provide all bedlinen, towels, gas central heating and electricity.

Outside there’s a patio, garden furniture and off-road parking.

No smoking throughout the property.

Dogs welcome (sorry, one only).

Garemount Lodge is an ideal base for exploring this beautiful area of Scotland. We’re on the Clyde Sea Lochs Trail, adjoining the Loch Lomond National Park, within an hour of Glasgow, Stirling, the Trossachs, and Inveraray. Shandon Country Pursuits and the Clyde Submarine Base at Faslane are nearby. There are castles and gardens to visit, walking, swimming, sailing, golf, watersports, shopping, riding, or just enjoying the beautiful scenery of this lovely part of Scotland.

Location description

Shandon is a lochside community one and a half miles from the Conservation Village of Rhu with one pub, two hotels, and two shops. We're on the Clyde Sea Lochs Trail, adjoining the Loch Lomond National Park. Helensburgh is four miles away and is a Victorian seaside town with a variety of independent shops, 2 supermarkets, a pier, golf, swimming, restaurants, coffee shops, and is also the home to The Hill House, Charles Rennie Mackintosh's famous architectural gem.

Other activities

There are a number of golf course close by, including Loch Lomond Golf Course where the Scottish Open is held each year. Shandon Country Pursuits is walkable for clay-pigeon shooting, quad biking, and archery.

Local events

During the summer there are a number of Highland Games in this region. This area also hosts a number of sailing events.

Tourist attractions

The Hill House in Helensburgh which was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for the Blackie family.
Day trips on The Waverley, which is the last ocean-going paddle steamer, and visits Helensburgh in summer.
We're within 50 minutes of Stirling and also Inveraray Castles.

Directions

Garemount Lodge is 4 miles north of Helensburgh, 20 miles from Glasgow Airport and 28 miles from Glasgow city centre. Take the A814 lochside road from Helensburgh towards Garelochead. After 2 miles pass through the village of Rhu. After one and a half miles turn right at "Ardchapel" in Shandon (it's the turnoff a short distance beyond "Queenspoint" and "Stuckenduff"). Turn immediate left onto a small slip road. Garemount Lodge is the third entrance along and the first house up the drive.
