Location description

Grantown-on-Spey, the capital of Strathspey, is a traditional Highland town situated 14 miles from Aviemore at the northern edge of the Cairngorms National Park.

The River Spey, famed for its salmon fishing, is only a short walk from the town centre and there are numerous easy walking routes along the river.

There is a wide variety of quality shops, hotels, pubs, restaurants and coffee shops both in the town and surrounding area.

Grantown is bordered by ancient woodlands including Anagach Woods which has marked trails and paths providing access for walking, running, orienteering or cycling.

Golf, bird and nature watching, skiing, pony trekking, off-road driving and water sports are just some of the other activities available throughout the year.

Take A9 north from Perth following signposts for Inverness
Continue north on A9 (approx 80 miles) until past the Aviemore turn off
Carry on for another 3 miles and turn right at the next junction (A95 signposted for Grantown-on-Spey)
At Grantown-on-Spey continue straight along High Street heading north (A939)
Leave Grantown-on-Spey following signpost for Forres/Nairn (A939)
Continue north for approx 1˝ miles
Pass under railway bridge (beware of very sharp bend!)
Continue north for ˝ mile looking for signpost to Ballieward/ Camerory
Turn left at signpost - Burnside Cottage is the second house (approx 400yds) on right
Enter by the second metal gate which is just past the house at the garage
