    Description

    Very spacious accommodation which is approached via external stone steps from its own patio and barbecue area. The layout with two sitting rooms is particularly well suited to two families on holiday together, or one family who appreciate their own space. All on one level the external door opens into a large open plan sitting/dining room. Kitchen leads off with electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washer /dryer. Also two bedrooms off, one double and one twin room. Doorway leads to small hallway off which is the main bathroom with bath (shower over) basin and toilet, shower room with basin and toilet and doorway to main lounge with large sofas seating up to eight people comfortably and views over surrounding countryside. Hallway off leading to one double bedroom with four-poster bed and one twin room.
    Heating: Night storage heaters and electric panel heaters. NSH included, all other electricity by meter reading.

    We have some excellent amenities here at Northway. The indoor swimming pool, 30 foot by 15 foot is a great hit with everyone. It is warm and light with wonderful views over Bideford Bay. There are spacious changing facilities, toilets and showers and seats for non swimmers. We also have, alongside the pool a Hot Tub spa which seats up to four people. A wonderful way to relax after those country/coastal walks.

    There is a fitness room containing a running machine, exercise bike and rowing machine. This is open 24 hours, every day to anyone over sixteen years. The Games Room is a large purpose built room housing all you need to entertain yourselves and the children on holiday. Table tennis ( bats and balls provided ), table football and a pool table provide plenty of opportunity for some family tournaments. There is a small play area reserved for toddlers.

    We also have an extensive range of popular board games, videos and books you can borrow. Not forgetting the amenities nature provides us with. Northway has well tended extensive grounds which you can enjoy where there is room to just sit and relax or have a kick about or game of boules. And then on our very doorstep we have beautiful walks, short or long, where you can enjoy the spectacular views and wildlife. Being designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty there is every chance you will see flowers or birds you have not seen before or certainly not for a long time.

    Location description

    The cobbled village of Clovelly makes a delightful excursion for those with good knees, and no visit to the area would be complete without a look at the spectacular scenery from Hartland Quay. Boat trips to Lundy Island are available from the fishing port of Bideford, or from Clovelly. At the mouth of the nearby Rivers Taw and Torridge lie the attractive twin villages of Appledore and Instow. Although the fishing fleet is much diminished, there is still plenty of fresh fish available, in Appledore and The Royal George Inn is well known in the area for its fish restaurant overlooking the bay. A walk along the quay gives a fine view of the estuary which is home to a small flotilla of yachts. Away from the front, narrow roads lead past an array of brightly painted cottages housing a selection of galleries, craft shops and places to eat. Instow has a long, well kept sandy beach with extensive sand dunes - ideal for dog walking. "The Bar", the Wayfarer pub and the BoatHouse are well worth stopping at for a drink or a bite to eat. Beach lovers will enjoy the lovely sandy beach at Westward Ho! while those wishing to venture further afield will find Northway ideally situated for visiting the North Devon beaches of Saunton, Woolacombe and Croyde Bay, and also Bude, Sandymouth Bay and the North Cornwall Coast (all within 25 miles).

    Directions

    From Junction 27 of M5 take A361 towards Tiverton/Barnstaple.
    Follow A361 all the way to the outskirts of Barnstaple (approximately 30 miles). Come to roundabout. Take first exit onto A39 signposted Bideford/Clovelly/Bude. At Bideford go over bridge over river estuary. Do not actually go into Bideford, but continue to follow signs for Clovelly. After approximately 3 miles enter "Horns Cross". As you are leaving "Horns Cross" At speed limit derestricted signs, take right turn into single track road, signposted Northway. After a quarter of a mile, come to fork in road. Take left fork, and pass Northway Holiday Cottages immediately on your right hand side. Entry to car park is on right after 100 yards.

    By Train. Nearest station is Barnstaple. Buses and Taxis available.
