Description of holiday cottage in Charlestown, South West
The Cabin is a pair of exquisitely renovated Grade II listed buildings and their private sunny courtyard, designed for alfresco eating, living, and generally have a grand time, hidden in the flower gardens of a grand Georgian Grade II Listed house on the Quay overlooking the historic port of Charlestown, which has recently been granted World Heritage status.
The Cabin sleeps 2 in seaside tranquillity.
The beauty of the Cabin is being able enjoying the best of the weather whilst being protected from the worst, in total privacy. The decoration is to the exceptionally high standards you would expect from Antonia.
The king size cabin bed would not be out of place on a Falmouth Packet (Ship)…Antonia and David have definitely spent far too much time at the Maritime Museum! The bedroom has style, comfort and attention to detail…the ceiling is low, adding to the charm, and a cot fits perfectly! The sheets are from the White Company and are the most fabulous Egyptian cotton percale (the duvet, pillows and towels are all from the White Company too). There is a hair dryer, a clock, a blanket and a sewing kit in the chest of drawers.
The adjoining wet room has a wonderfully powerful shower, basin and most importantly, a loo with a view!
The open plan sitting room/kitchen is designed for comfort. There is a wonderfully squishy sofa, a gas wood burner, a digital television with built in DVD, an ipod dock and WiFi. All the kitchen appliances would expect to find are there, a ceramic hob, an electric oven, a fridge, a microwave and a dishwasher. You’ll find everything else you might need in the cupboards. The washing machine, tumble dryer, overhead airier, utility belfast sink, iron and ironing board are to the rear in the wash house.
Eating is in the sitting room/kitchen with its bank of windows overlooking your private garden or in the enclosed courtyard, where you can soak up the sun before, during or after a lazy lunch and if it looks as if it might rain or the sun is just too hot (!) the state of the art sail can, at the press of a button/crank of a handle, cover the entire courtyard, meaning you can enjoy being outside whatever the weather.
It is this, along with the magical setting that makes the Cabin so wonderful.... David and Antonia spent a summer here and didn’t want to go home.
The Cabin has all sorts of things you might like to use if you are bringing preschool kids.
Anti Door Slammers, an Avent Express Microwave Steam Steriliser, a Baa Baa Blackout Blind, a Bumbo and Tray, a Changing Mat with a White Cotton Towelling Cover, a Hand Held Food Whizzer, a Mamas and Papas Travel Cot, a Mclaren Single Buggy with Raincover, a pair of T-shirting Sheets, a Plate, Bowl and Tumbler, Knife, Fork and Spoon, a Play Mat, a Red Tripp Trapp High Chair and Harness, Socket Covers, a Tomy Walkabout Digital Baby Monitor, a Waterproof Matrass Protector, a White Baby Bath and a White Potty.
The Cabin is available from 4pm on a Friday until 10am the following Friday. We do not allow animals, nor smoking, and the parking is wonderfully easy! Prices are from £585 to £785 per self-catering week.
