Sleeping 2/3, Drangway is a charming and comfortable Grade II listed cottage with medieval origins overlooking the square. Once part of a manor house and then extended in the 1700’s it’s brimming with character having exposed beams, slate floors, stone walls and granite lintels. Drangway has been in our family for many generations - our great great aunt Lizzie ran a wine shop from the dining room in the late 1800’s - and is a real home away from home with everything you need to enjoy a memorable break including games, a book and DVD library, comfy sofas and fresh linen.
The front door of the cottage opens into a beamed dining room with stone walls and a large open fireplace. Also on the ground floor is a modern well-equipped galley kitchen with a lovely, softly worn slate flagstone floor and beamed ceiling.
The staircase turns its way up to the first floor landing and a choice of four rooms: a light and comfortable sitting room, a low-ceilinged double bedroom with a stone mullion window overlooking the cobbled Gibraltar Square and hills beyond, a single bedroom looking out over Church Square and a half bath/shower room with a basin and WC.

Drive into Stratton, up to Church Square and step back in time. Locals are welcoming and you will feel yourself unwinding as you immerse yourself in the laid-back atmosphere of a village community centred around the imposing church of St Andrew and the historic Tree Inn and set in a patchwork of narrow streets lined with pretty cottages.Whether you want to explore Cornwall and Devon, have a beach holiday or get your walking boots on, the cottage is an ideal base. Close by are the wonderful beaches of North Cornwall with expansive stretches of golden sand, rockpools and magnificent cliffs. Enjoy miles of superb walking along the dramatic Atlantic coastline, through wooded valleys and over rolling farmland. You will find a file of our favourite walks in the cottage, short and long - all circular and most take in a pub or a tea house along the way!
Only a mile from Stratton, Bude is a pleasant seaside town with restaurants and cafes, shops, supermarkets, a leisure centre, golf courses and a sea-water swimming pool - everything you could need. Further afield you can find Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, National Trust houses and gardens, towns like Padstow and Bideford and pretty villages such as Boscastle and Port Isaac - there is plenty to see and do.
And then you return to the cottage, sink into a comfortable sofa with a cup of tea and plan your next day!
