Abscott Cottage is situated off a quiet Devon lane in a large, fully enclosed child and dog friendly garden with lawns, patios and shrubs. There is gated off-road parking for four cars. The garden overlooks a backdrop of paddocks and an apple orchard lies beyond the garden giving additional privacy.
You'll find the three large double bedrooms with their luxury en-suite bathrooms on the ground floor of the cottage (no need to lug suitcases upstairs). The master bedroom has a pine-beamed vaulted ceiling and French windows leading onto one of the patios – a perfect spot for breakfast or dining under the stars on balmy summer evenings (a large BBQ is available from April to September).
The first floor comprises three linked open plan lounge, dining and reception areas with beamed ceilings, stripped pine floors and floor to ceiling windows giving views over the attractive North Devon countryside.
Plug your iPod into the docking station, relax with friends, pick a good book or play games with the children on one of the 3 comfortable sofas arranged around a log burning fire. Perfect for cosy autumn evenings after a dinner in the spacious dining area featuring a stripped pine table and church-style pews.
The fully equipped kitchen contains an oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer and a large American style fridge/freezer with water dispenser and ice maker.

Abscott Cottage is nicely located for a holiday in North Devon, being within easy reach of Devon’s finest beaches such as Croyde, Saunton Sands or Woolacombe. Explore National Trust properties such as Arlington Court with its beautiful bluebell woods in spring. Enjoy bracing cliff top walks along the South West Coastal footpath with spectacular views between Lynmouth and Combe Martin, or discover the wild grandeur of the Exmoor National Park with its historic villages.Shirwell is an old Devon village just north of Barnstaple. Sir Francis Chichester is buried in the churchyard of the village’s 12th Century Church, Youlston Park to which Abscott belongs is his boyhood home.
