Lea Hill Cottages are remote, yet within easy reach of the Devon market town of Axminster, with its many hidden gems such as the River Cottage shop and canteen. We offer 6 very pretty cottages:

Kingfisher
Graded four stars by Visit Britain, this pretty, thatched accommodation makes a comfortable home from home. This spacious apartment has been created from an ancient thatched barn retaining attractive period features. Delightful views are enjoyed from the house and the gardens.

Located on the first floor, Kingfisher has an attractive, comfortably furnished living room with coalburner effect fire. A light, spacious room with double aspect views across a pretty, hidden valley and our extensive gardens. The well equipped kitchen with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave etc adjoins the lounge - sleeps 2.

Nuthatch
Very spacious self catering accommodation for four people. The cottage provides two double rooms, each with an ensuite bathroom. A stunning double aspect lounge and fireplace adds to your comfort; together with a separate dining room, both on the ground floor. There is also a ground floor cloakroom. The well fitted kitchen is equipped a cooker, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer - sleeps 4.

Woodpecker
Woodpecker cottage has an open-plan beamed living room, with quarry-tile floor and stone fireplace. The kitchen area is cleverly planned, complete with dishwasher. The bathroom is downstairs with a bath and over-bath power shower. There is a pretty beamed double bedroom and a sheltered garden. Upstairs are two attractively decorated bedrooms; the master bedroom is large enough to feature a pair of comfortable armchairs - sleeps 2.

Wagtail
Attractive and comfortable accommodation for up to four people. The living-room has a welcoming wood-burner effect electric stove; and French windows leading on to a terrace surrounded by lawn. The kitchen-area is fitted with cupboards in limed oak and supplemented by a utility-room housing more equipment. The lounge leads to a separate dining-room next door. Upstairs are two attractively decorated bedrooms; the master bedroom is large enough to feature a pair of comfortable armchairs - sleeps 4

Quakers
Graded four stars by Visit Britain, this pretty, thatched accommodation (to the right in the photo - part/wing of main house) makes a comfortable home from home. On the ground floor there is an attractive lounge with cast iron Woodburner effect stove, exposed stone wall and a delightful outlook across the gardens to the pretty valley beyond. From the quarry-tiled kitchen diner, with solid beech worktops and table, a French door leads your own garden area with garden furniture and the nearby parking area.

On the first floor, a large landing, graced with an ancient oak screen, leads to a pretty double bedroom (five foot bed) with ensuite shower room. The second bedroom is a comfortably large room with wall beams, stripped pine floor and very pretty views across the terrace and gardens. Adaptable bedding provides two three-foot twin beds which can be linked to give a super king six-foot double. The spacious ensuite bathroom boasts a super sized bath plus an over bath power shower. Quakers is non-smoking - sleeps 4.

Chaffinch
Comfortable ground floor apartment. The lounge, with coalburner effect fire, has delightful views across the gardens and valley beyond. Outside there is a pretty front terrace and small back garden—each with seating. A well equipped kitchen with cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer leads to the ensuite bedroom which has twin beds which zip-and-link into a king size bed if required. The good sized bathroom has an over bath shower. Chaffinch apartment is non-smoking - sleeps 2.

Venture further afield and we are an ideal centre for discovering a delightful, unexplored corner of Devon bordering both Somerset and Dorset. To the North the quiet roads and charming villages of the Blackdown Hills, the Somerset levels and Vale of Taunton. Or go South to enjoy the World Heritage Jurassic Coast—from Seaton's tramway along the wildlife-rich Axe estuary to Charmouth's visitor centre and fossil hunting.

Sand and shingle, rocks or promenades—there is variety enough at our World Heritage Site coastline to interest all ages. Many attractions lie within 40 minutes' drive meaning that there is plenty to do whatever the weather.
The World Heritage “Jurassic” Coast at Lyme Regis or at Seaton (with its scenic estuary tram line) is only ten miles away. Other attractive resorts like Sidmouth and Branscombe, and the pleasant market town of Honiton – home to a wonderful range of antique shops- are within 15miles.

A good number of historic houses and fine gardens (many National Trust) are within easy reach with Forde Abbey house and gardens just eight miles distant. The County Towns of Exeter or Taunton are forty minutes away by car. For those seeking attractions closer to home, we keep a special “Green File” of information about really local things to do and see.

Our eight acres of grounds and gardens are set against backdrop of wonderful scenery and our six well equipped self-catering cottages and apartments all have delightful views . Each is a comfortable home from home thoughtfully converted from farm barns or from a part of the historic thatched farmhouse (dating from 14th C.)

Pets are welcome. There are exercise fields in our ground. Delightful footpaths lead from our grounds in many directions You can take scenic walks to the riverside or, to pretty hamlets through bluebell woods and open farmland - rich in wildlife.
