Cedar Key is the town that Florida forgot - Florida without the mouse or the neverending plastic. If you are looking for quiet, nature, and relaxation, this is "old Florida" and your ideal holiday location.

We have a breathtaking view of salt marsh, bayou, and the Gulf of
Mexico. Our waterfront villa is located on the island of Cedar Key Florida - Gulf Coast. Our 3rd floor (top floor!) corner self-catering villa with private balcony, gourmet kitchen, king and queen bedrooms, and 2 baths is set in a private, quiet, small condominium complex. Our villas have a resort "feel" without the resort expense!

Cedar Key is a sleepy fishing village reminiscent of New England
fishing towns. The town has about 800 regular residents and is very quiet and quaint.

"Tranquility" was named such because it was our goal to provide a
peaceful escape from a busy world, but to still provide the amenities
to have a wonderful holiday. A blending of contemporary organic
themes and traditional Japanese design elements lends just the right
touch of "Zen" to the space without being slavish to decor.

Bird watching is our favorite past time. Fishing is excellent
(redfish, sea trout, grouper in deep ocean). There are several good seafood restaurants and shops within walking distance. You are invited to bring/rent a bicycle or golf cart if you do not wish to walk to town. (3 blocks)

Location description

Cedar Key is a small fishing village and artist colony about 50 miles southwest of Gainesville, 2.5 hours north of Tampa, and 2.5 hours west of Jacksonville, Florida. Surrounded by the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the Cedar Keys consist of dozens of islands or keys. Way Key is the primary key that the city of Cedar Key is built upon. About a dozen of those "keys" are reserved as a part of the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge and several are designated as "wilderness areas". The refuge hosts some of the largest numbers of nesting birds in Florida. Bird watching is easy, whether you walk the shores or take a boat out to the refuge. Tranquility's balcony is excellent for birdwatching. You can walk to town in about 10 minutes for dining and shopping. Many people enjoy biking or using a golf cart to sightsee. Boating and fishing are favorite activities.

Directions

From the Tampa airport, drive north on I-75 to Gainesville Florida, exit the turnpike at Fl. Hwy 24 and drive west to Cedar Key Florida. Hwy 24 ends in Cedar Key. Turn left at the stop sign and drive all the way to the end of 2nd Street (2.5 blocks). Take the left driveway into our villas. You've arrived!
