Chateau de Villars, built in the middle of the 19th century as a private home, provides guests with a luxurious, peaceful retreat from the modern world, while having all the conveniences you could need for your holiday.

Our five Chateau bedrooms are stylishly appointed, all with bath/shower en suite. As a guest at Chateau de Villars, you can enjoy our period living room, our library stting room, our bar, our terrace overlooking the Chateau's park, our heated swimming pool and our walking paths, which are cut through the Chateau's wildflower meadows. It's your home from home while you are here.

Guests have the use of our bikes. There are plenty of walks, some starting right outside the Chateau's gates! We're adjacent to the Perigord-Limousin National Park, close to interesting and beautiful historical sites. And we're here to help you get the most out of your holiday here, with advice and suggestions on local markets, places to visit, and restaurant reservations.

With prior booking, there is the opportunity most evenings to enjoy a four course dinner, with two glasses of local Bergerac wine. On nights when our dining room is open, you eat with your hosts 'en famille' in the Chateau's elegant dining room, alongside our other guests.

We are renowned for catering for our guests special diets, especially for anyone who is coeliac - so if you are coeliac, ask us about our weeklong holidays for coeliacs, their partners, friends and family. For guests staying for one of these holidays, there are trips out by Chateau transport and all meals included. Tariffs differ from our B&B tariff.

During the year we also host weeklong or 10 day 'Relax & Learn' Activity holidays, when guests can enjoy a 'Chateau de Villars holiday' and also participate in an Activity. In 2011 we offer two 10 day 'Paint & Sketch' holidays (beginners welcome) led, for the fourth year running, by the artist Jane Smithers. We are also offering a 'Markets & Cooking' week at the end of September, centered around the new teaching kitchen in La Maison des Sabots, an 18th century village house just outside the Chateau's front gates. And at the beginning and end of our season, we offer a Walking & Strolling holiday with accompanied walks in the beautiful and verdant Dordogne countryside.

Above all a holiday here is for Relaxing, getting away from the hustle & bustle, stepping back in time.......and being well looked after in a beautiful setting.

Situated in Villars (the village of Three Marvels) with the Chateau de Puyghuilem, the Grottes de Villars & the Cisterican Abbaye de Boscaud, you are also to St Jean de Cole (one of the 58 most beautiful villages in France), to Brantome (the Venice of the Perigord with its excellent Friday market), to Bordeilles with its Medieival & Renaissance Chateau, and to Perigueux (the capital of the Dordogne) with its Renaissance town and Roman Museum of Vesunna. From here you can visit the Chateau de Hautefort, the Chateau de Jumilhac, Pompadour with its horse stud and racetrack, Terrasson with its Jardin d'Imaginaire, Aubeterre and its monolithic church, and you can walk and relax right here in the Chateau's grounds. Perfect peace!
