Chalet Sara Marie (sleeps 16 people) is architect designed and newly built. It has 6 bedrooms which are ensuite and one family suite (2 twin rooms) which share a bathroom. There is also a sauna, hammam and hot tub. It has a beautiful and unspoilt view.

Location description

Chalet Sara Marie is situated in the picturesque and traditional village of Le Bettaix, which has a bar / restaurant and a ski hire shop. Le Bettaix is a short chair lift or a 6 minute car trip from the bigger resort of Les Menuires, and two lifts or a 14 minute drive from Val Thorens – the highest resort in Europe. The chalet is just 150m from the chair lift, so it is truly ski-in, ski-out!

At 2,300 metres, Val Thorens is the most snow sure resort you’ll find in Europe. To illustrate its height advantage, Val Thorens is 900 metres higher than Meribel! Furthermore, Les Menuires and Val Thorens form part of the Three Valleys – the largest ski area in the world, totalling over 600km of piste!

Les Menuires is the least well-known, most French and most accessible resort in the Three Valleys. From the skier's point of view, this translates into mostly uncrowded pistes and short queues at the chairlifts. You can also ski the 'Itinéraires du Soleil' (which roughly translated means 'the sunshine path'), all day long on south and west-facing slopes to maximise your sun-tan!

Another good point for many is the fact that Les Menuires is such nice family resort - definitely lacking in the fur-coated snobs which frequent some of the other resorts nearby. It has a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops, a well-equipped sports centre (with indoor swimming pool, gym, jacuzzi, hammam, sauna and squash court), outdoor swimming pool, cinema, night clubs and an ice skating rink.

The Three Valleys and Les Menuires are close to several international airports (Chambery 120km, Geneva 145km, Lyon 180km). There is an excellent choice of airlines flying to Chambery, Lyon and Geneva. BMI, British Airways and Easyjet all fly direct from the UK to Geneva and to Lyon St Exupery. Road:

Les Menuires is approximately 600 miles from Calais. The roads are excellent and few traffic problems make driving one of the most convenient ways to get to the resort. The total journey time is approximately 9 hours and will cost you about €60 in tolls each way. As you depart Calais follow the signs to Reims, Troyes, Dijon, Lyon, Chambery, Albertville, Moutiers and finally Les Menuires / Val Thorens. Just a few kilometres before Les Menuires there will be a turning on the right into Praranger Le Bettaix. (It is after the turnings for St Marcel and Les Granges.) Turn into Le Bettaix and follow the main road which runs along the edge of a river. Follow this road for about two minutes. Chalet Genepi is the first chalet on the left after you pass the two schools.

Rail:

If you live near London, the overnight Snow Train can be a convenient method of travel. You can catch it at London St Pancras or Ebbsfleet International in Kent, and then simply change platforms at Lille, and then go to Moutiers (which is about 27km from us). You can also get the high speed rail link from London St Pancras or Ebbsfleet, and then change in Paris to a TGV which also then goes onto Moutiers.
