"River Bridge Holiday Cottages" are in fact 2 holiday cottages ("River Bridge View" and "River Bridge House"), side by side and located in the heart of a quiet village in the Brecon Beacons National Park. If you want a self-catering holiday cottage with fishing rights, then look no further! The properties benefit from two thirds of a mile of single bank Trout and Salmon fishing at the end of the gardens and rods can be hired. We are also pet / dog friendly.

"River Bridge View"
This cosy cottage (with fishing rights) sleeps up to 4 people within 2 bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin). It adjoins River Bridge House (3 bedrooms for 5 guests), which can also be booked to create larger holiday accommodation for up to 9 people. If you wish to book both properties, we can offer a 10% discount on the total price!

The accommodation is all on the ground-floor and is therefore ideal for guests with limited mobility.

The bright and fully-equipped kitchen has an electric oven, fridge, microwave, crockery, cookware and washing machine. The bathroom has a bath with shower, WC, basin and heated towel rail.

All linen and towels are included in the price.

The lounge has a comfy sofa, fireplace, flat-screen satellite television and DVD player. We also provide toys and books for our younger guests.

The attractive garden and stone patio are perfect places to gaze at the meandering River Usk and guests can enjoy access to the river-side public footpath via a gate, just adjacent to the cottage.

The property benefits from fishing rights. Rods can be hired: Trout £20 per rod, per day or £105 per week. Salmon £25 per rod, per day or £140 per week.

Location description

Llangynidr is a pretty little village, some 4 miles west of Crickhowell and 9 miles south-east of Brecon. The Monmouthshire and Brecon canal, with its famous five locks, passes through the village. The canal provides some lovely places to sit and feed the ducks and swans, whilst the towpath is great for a bike ride. There is a village shop and the 2 welcoming pubs ("The Red Lion" and "The Coach and Horses") serve excellent meals. Both are open for food each day, all year round, and "The Coach and Horses" can be reached on foot in minutes. The beautiful River Usk flows through the lower part of Llangynidr and the public footpath is great for a walk at any time of year.

The Brecon Beacons National Park is renowned for its magnificant landscape - there are mountains and gently rolling hills; canal paths and river walks; caves and waterfalls; market towns and majestic castles.... There really is something for everyone to do, at any time of the year.

The towns of Brecon and Crickhowell are nearby and are well-worth a visit. Crickhowell has many interesting shops and boutiques, along with several excellent places to eat. At Brecon, you can visit the Cathedral, the leisure centre, the Brecknock Museum, the cinema, canal-side theatre, or even take a boat trip along the River Usk. Hay-on-Wye ("The Town of Books") hosts the famous Hay Festival of Literature and Arts for 10 days in May and June. Outside these dates, it is still the perfect place for a day trip to wander around the meandering streets.

Llangorse Lake is also just 15 minutes away and aside from being a great place to feed the ducks and swans, you can hire boats and take part in other water sports. There is also a shop and cafe, plus a large common area to excercise the dogs! From this area, you can take an interesting walk around the lake to Llangasty Chapel.

Directions

We are located in the village of Llangynidr, which is in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Brecon is 20 minutes away to the north-west and the lovely market town of Crickhowell is 10 minutes to the south-east. Bristol and Cardiff are each only 1 hour away. The quickest route from Bristol (and also if you are coming from London), is to pick up the M4 westbound. Exit at the A449 (just before Newport), turning onto the A40 at Raglan. At Abergavenny, keep on the A40, go through Crickhowell and just before the village of Bwlch, turn off left on the B4580, sign-posted 'Llangynidr'. Go over the ancient (and very narrow!) bridge, take the first road on the right and "River Bridge Holiday Cottages" are the second properties on the right, or the ones just before you reach the shop.
