A wonderful, comfortable colonial, planter style bungalow - but with the advantage of being newly built and therefore having modern facilities. Rooms are spacious and cool with high ceilings and furnished with Mahogony and wild silks.

Caretakers Martin and Rani will look after your every wish and make sure that you feel thoroughly pampered and at home. Because Jungle Tide is our home, we love our visitors to relax and enjoy their visit as much as we do when we are here.

Jungle Tide is a place to make your base in Sri Lanka - it is unlikely you will find such a high standard of cleanliness and comfort and luxury at such a reasonable price anywhere else - and from here you can visit many places in a day trip, and others with an overnight stay away.

The wildlife around the house is fantastic with dozens of species of birds and butterflies to enjoy watching, as well as chameleons, mongooses,mokeys by day, and if you are adventerous enough, wild boar, peacocks and porcupine at night.

You can also walk through the tea estate for hours, climb hills,take in stunning views, visit the village schoo, shopl and bakery and generally get an insight into the real Sri Lanka.

Deposit/Booking Notes: Single occupancy rate per room is at a discount of £10 per night i.e. £15 off-peak, £20 peak times.

Three bedrooms have double or king-size beds; one has twin single beds. It is possible to set up an extra single bed for an additional £5 per night; we also have a cot, at no extra charge.

Meals
Martin and Rani, our housekeepers, cook excellent Sri Lankan food provided you let them know in advance so they can buy ingredients.

Prices for meals are:
Selection of vegetable curries and rice - Rs 400/- per person
Selection of fish/meat/vegetable curries and rice - Rs 600/- per person
Sri Lankan breakfast - Rs 300/- per person

Drivers
Your driver's accommodation is included in the price of your stay. If you are self-catering you should pay your driver to either buy his own meals or eat with Martin and Rani. If you are having meals cooked, the above price includes the meal for your driver.

Location description

Rural retreat in central Sri Lanka. Excellent climate at an elevation of 1,000m above sea level. Kandy the nearest town is a world Heritage city steeped in history, culture and Buddhism. Fantastic walking, birdwatching and exploration of local culture.
