Tubagua Plantation Eco Village boasts a spectacular ocean view from 1000 feet above sea level, off the beaten tourist path yet only 20 minutes from Puerto Plata airport, city and beaches. Conceived to provide an authentic Dominican countryside experience for couples and groups up to 30 people, Tubagua's picturesque setting has been used as the location for fashion shoots and a feature film.

The 12-acre Tubagua Plantation is an ideal place to relax, immersed in nature, or to use as a group 'base camp' as you explore the north coast region

The social area centers around a grassy terrace featuring a spring fed cocktail pool and a bar/dining area looking out over the awe-inspiring view.

Accommodations are simple yet very comfortable single and queen beds in grass roofed palapas featuring canvas walls; some say it feels like "camping in luxury"�.

Meals are important at Tubagua. Guests are welcomed to participate in preparation in the typical open kitchen. Bountiful and fresh, each meal is a pleasant social event featuring fresh ingredients from the surrounding countryside.

Blessed with spectacular views of ocean and mountains, this village was named Tubagua, meaning "splendid sea" in the original Taino Indian tongue, affirming its nature as a favored place over many centuries. Awe inspiring, it was also the chosen home of renowned Dominican painter Jaime Colson. Today, Tubagua is a friendly village of traditional Dominican families and more recently-settled Haitian folk. Most forge a simple living out of subsistence farming.

The Plantation is a a 12-acre farm that is supplied with pure spring water, electricity and sleeping and meal facilities. We can sleep up to 30 guests in shared quarters on single beds, or up to 10 couples in private quarters on queen-sized beds.

While private and secure, our lodge it does not look nor feel like a "compound"�, rather more as an integral part of an existing village. The Plantation involves the local community, providing jobs and consuming local produce, with the end result for the visitor being a real life experience of living among the people in rural Dominican Republic.
