Description of holiday b&b in Jesi, Marche

A traditional Italian farmhouse in a peaceful location between Ancona and Fabriano (near Piticchio), surrounded by gardens, and open farmland, with views of the Sibilini mountains. Come at the right time and you could be eating cherries, plums, nectarines or figs, fresh from the tree, or even helping in our olive harvest (no extra charge!).

All bedrooms have charming views, vaulted ceilings and shuttered windows. Meals are usually served outside in the garden. What could be better: a hearty breakfast, sitting in the shade of a tree while planning your day?

Easy access to mountains, Adriatic beaches and medieval villages (everywhere!). Winetasting, bird watching, local markets, cycling, Frasassi caves, walking, watersports, and MUCH MORE! Local knowledge FREE! English and Italian spoken.

Casa Rustica is on two floors. Downstairs (the cantina) is yet to be renovated and is currently uninhabitable. Upstairs there are three guest bedrooms (can sleep seven), two bathrooms, a large farmhouse-style kitchen with log fire and a sitting room with TV, video and DVD players. All of the rooms are equipped with fans and mosquito blinds, have vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, and double-glazed, shuttered windows. Central heating is installed throughout. A hair-dryer is provided for the duration of your stay and beach towels are available on request without charge. We can also provide a laundry service.

There are plenty of restaurants and pizzerias in the area, but we are happy to supply you with an evening meal, serving fresh, local produce, allowing you the choice to stay in if you wish. Drinks, snacks, ice creams, etc, are also available.

The approach road to Casa Rustica ends at the house, so there is no passing traffic. There is ample parking. It’s a peaceful location, with open fields, olive groves and vineyards surrounding the house and the nearest property is quite a distance away. Our local village is 3kms distance, while the market town of Jesi is 10kms away.

Location description

Set in a tranquil location, with no passing traffic, Casa Rustica is ideally situated for the Sibilini Mountains, Adriatic beaches (blue flag status), local restaurants, bustling markets, and umpteen beautifully preserved medieval towns and villages. Being in the heart of both Verdicchio and Lacrima wine regions, there are ample opportunities for wine tasting.

Whatever your preferred type of holiday, there's something for everyone, including: wine tasting (local specialities Verdicchio, Lacrima DOC wines), bird watching, Italian lessons, numerous beaches (from the long, sandy, blue flag status beaches at Senigallia to the dramatic cliff-backed beaches at Porto Novo) and much more!

Local events

Local festivals are almost an obsession with Italians and they celebrate everything from sausages to sangria, from wine to wild boar, not to mention truffles, and olive oil. And at the other, somewhat wacky extreme, we celebrate sausages on parachutes, and frogs in wheelbarrows: any excuse for a party!

Just 40 minutes' drive away we have the largest cave system open to the public in Europe: the spectacular Grotte di Frasassi.
Other popular destinations include Assisi, Macerata (world-famous opera in an open-air amphitheatre), Loreto (a must-see pilgrimage site), plus of course Rome, which is an easy train ride away.
