Karen & Kevin Phillips welcome you to the Field Farmhouse bed and breakfast & self catering holiday cottages located in the picturesque Cerne Valley, near Dorchester best known for it's naked Giant carved deep in the chalk hillside.
The village of Godmanstone is at the head of the valley and is only ten minutes from the county town of Dorchester, renowned for its museums, country lifestyle shops and historic tea rooms, a county much loved & inhabited by the writer & poet Thomas Hardy.
Dorchester and the surrounding area of Dorset offer a wide range of activities with ample golf courses, sea/game/course fishing, shooting, walking, bird watching, horse riding and it's situated only ten miles from the award winning sandy beach at nearby Weymouth, where there are all the seaside facilities to enjoy, alternatively take a stroll along one of our Jurassic coastal paths.

Deposit/Booking Notes: DEPOSIT
We require a deposit of one third of the total holiday cost when making your reservation. The balance must be paid at least six weeks prior to your arrival. Failure to comply may result in the loss of your deposit and cancellation of your holiday.
CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations must be made in writing to us at least six weeks before your holiday date. We will make every effort to re-let, but if we are unsuccessful you will be required to pay the full cost of your holiday. Please therefore ensure that you arrange appropriate holiday insurance.
ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE
The Cottage is available from Friday at 3:30pm and must be vacated by 10:30am on the following Friday.

Spend your day fishing some of the best locations in the UK and absorb the beautiful countryside. Trout fly fishing on 4 lakes is available at Flowers Farm just 10 minutes away.
Clay Pigeon Shooting
There is also a fully equipped multi discipline international clay shooting ground 8 miles away. Full gun storage faclilities available by arrangement with host.

Stunning Cliff Path Walks
Some of the amazing views you can see along any part of the World Heritage coastline that runs along nearly the whole of the Dorset coast. There are so many spectacular walks in Dorset you'll be spoilt for choice.Godmanstone boasts a network of well kept bridle paths and unclassified roads that take you up into the Cerne Valley where you will experience some breathtaking views. Shaftesbury & Sherborne
Shaftesbury's Golden Hill, made famous by the Hovis advert and Sherborne Abbey, burial place of Alfred the Great's two brothers, Kings Ethelbald & Ethelkbert are well worth a visit.
Two Hardy's
Vice-Admir Sir Thomas Masteman Hardy, made famous by Lord Nelson's dying words has an imposing monument which keeps watch over the coast. Thomas Hardy, the famous 19th Century writer immortalised Dorset in his novels and was born & bought up in this charming cottage in Bockhampton, near Dorchester.
Gardens & Nature
Abbottsbury Sub Tropical Gardens & Abbottsbury Swanery are just two of the wide range of gardens and wildlife centres found all over Dorset.
Portland & Lulworth
Portland with its famous Chesil Beach, imposing Tudor fort & Neolithic landscape is a prime example of man exerting his power over the landscape, whereas Lulworth cove is a much more natural setting with stunning cliff faces and the weather carved Durdle Door.

Chalk Landscape
The Cerne Giant an imposing figure carved out of the chalk landscape is surrounded in controversy with some claiming he's a fraud while others believe he's a Roman fertility symbol. The White Horse a 19th century folly can be found next to the village of Osmington.

Dorset has an abundance of ancient & historical sites that span over 5000 years. The Medieval Athelhampton House & the largest & most complex Iron Age Hillfort in Europe (Maiden Castle) are just two that are within easy reach.
Directions
Travelling from Dorchester
Take the A37 towards Yeovil, you will drive along the weir, where the River Frome meanders through the meadow. You will approach a roundabout with two exits; take the second exit continuing towards Yeovil. Just past the small cottage on the left you will need to turn right sign posted to Charminster . Drive through the scenic Hamlet of Forston .Just a few miles on you will approach the village of Godmanstone, turn right after village sign & then bear left into Field Farmhouse Drive.
Travelling from Yeovil
From Yeovil follow signs to A37 and Dorchester. Continue for 13 miles to Grimstone, continue on through the village and then by pass the village of Stratton on your right. Carry on under the railway bridge and turn left sign posted to Charminster. Pass the school on the left hand side until you reach a T junction at which turn left. Drive through the scenic Hamlet of Forston. Just a few miles on you will approach the village of Godmanstone, turn right after village sign & then bear left into Field Farmhouse Drive.
Travelling from Sherborne
From Sherborne take the A352 sign posted to Dorchester. Drive through Middle Marsh and follow the road round, sign posted to Minterne Magna and Cerne Abbas (still on the A352). Continue through Minterne Magna and Cerne Abbas. Enjoy the views of the Cerne Giant on your left and extensive Valleys until you reach Godmanstone (2 miles approx). Continue on to the end of the village until you see an old white Milk Churn on your left. Turn left just before and bear left into Field Farmhouse.
