Modern, comfortable accommodation for two in the beautiful medieval hilltop town of Capestrano in Italy. Either for bed & breakfast or self catering.

Casa Belvedere is a recently restored home made of stone. It sleeps two in a private bedroom with twin beds or king size, bathroom with shower, bidet, etc. a salon and a kitchen/dining room. Guests may make use of the fully equipped self catering kitchen as needed.

Breakfast is served in the dining room on request. Dinner can be served at a nominal rate if given prior notice.

Two small street level "cantinas" are available for storing bicycles, luggage and sports equipment.

Capestrano is surrounded by the three vast national parks of Abruzzo in Italy which are home to a variety of wildlife. Eagles, wild boar and bears are found here as well as spectacular untouched flora and fauna. Visitors can enjoy and explore the parks all year round.

A visit to romantic Rome is a pleasant 2 hr drive - perfect for exploring the sights and piazzas on a day trip.

Pescara on the Adriatic coast with its miles of golden beaches is only 45 mins away and offers a vibrant nightlife, superb bars and restaurants.

The Abruzzo is well known for its Gastronomy tours, you can explore and sample authentic Abruzzese restaurants, cheese, wine and truffles.

Location description

Capestrano is a lesser known, small but picturesque hilltop town in Italy close to the Adriatic Coast. Capestrano is situated in the Province of L'Aquila, in the Abruzzo and is surrounded by three famous pristine National Parks. It is just 2 hours by car from Rome.
The nearest airport to Capestrano is in the coastal resort and port of Pescara, 45 minutes away.
Pescara has miles of golden beaches on the warm Adriatic coast. There is a ferry service between Pescara and Croatia.

Nearby: Snow skiing, horseback riding, mountainbike riding, cycling, walking, sightseeing and fishing.

This relaxed town of friendly people is less frequented by the usual hordes of tourists in the more well known places. They welcome visitors with warmth and hospitality as everyone is proud to show off their special town with its central baroque ‘Piazza del Mercato’, it's Castles and small restaurants, churches and cafés.

The town itself with it's medieval and renaissance architecture is well over 600 years old. The castle, abbey, monastry are all worth visiting, a step back into a bygone age. The town has it's own beautiful lake and pretty mountain scenery with views of the Tirino valley and is surrounded by the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park.

The Tirino valley is dotted with ancient olive and almond trees. Many archaeological findings from the neolythic age indicate that the area was inhabited since antiquity.

The carved stone Capestrano Warrior (6th century BC) which was found by a farmer in a field near the town in 1934 can now be seen in the nearby museum in Chieti.

From Rome: Many incoming flights from various locations. Linked directly by motorway - through the mountains to Capistrano.Car hire is essential.

Cars can be hired at the airport in Pescara, Ancona or Rome.
