This recently converted stone barn has two double bedrooms, so can comfortably accommodate four people. It is a detached traditional building facing into a small landscaped courtyard, and also looking out over a large garden and open fields. There is a raised terrace at the front of the barn which catches the morning sun. Two French windows lead from the terrace to the kitchen and living areas.

The ground floor has an open plan with a central feature of an elegant wooden spiral staircase which leads to the two upstairs bedrooms. The kitchen/dining area is well furnished and equipped for self-catering. The living area is comfortably furnished including a television, and wireless broadband connection.

The barn has underfloor heating, powered by geothermal energy which, apart from being good for the environment, also gives a very comfortable, even temperature throughout.

Location description

Ardmor is set in a quiet rural location, a mile outside the village of Ballinspittle. We are at the head of a valley and enjoy views over gentle rolling hills with views of the sea and the Old Head peninsular in the distance.

The 'Blue Flag' beaches at Garretstown are five minutes drive away (3km/2miles) and are adjacent to the stunningly spectacular Old Head of Kinsale peninsula.

The historic and beautiful town of Kinsale is only 15 mins drive away. Kinsale has good shops and markets, excellent restaurants and bars, and is well known for its music, art and food festivals throughout the year.

Other activities

There is a surfing school at Garretstown, the local beach.

The property enjoys a quiet location but has the advantage of being only 15 km from Cork City airport. There is a good car hire service available at the airport.

Irish Ferries and Stena Line operate car ferries to Ireland from the UK and France. The nearest port from which they operate is Rosslare; a distance of 146 kms or 91 miles to Cork, along good quality roads.

A new Swansea - Cork service 'Fastnetline' is due to start sailing in June 2009 which will make traveling to this part of Ireland an added pleasure.
