Description of holiday apartment in Tetouan, Tangier-Tetouan
Recently featured on a UK property programme with Channel 4, the Jawhara Smir complex is ideal for a beach-based holiday.
Having one of the best views of the Olympic-sized swimming pool in the complex, the apartment is modern, comfortable and spacious, offering all the requisites for a memorable family break. It comfortably sleeps 4 adults but there can be extra provision made for babies and small children by the hire of a cot, high chair or an additional bed (by prior arrangement with the on-site agency) but these items are not part of the apartment's standard contents and need to be arranged well beforehand with the owner or the management agency. The agency will endeavour to make your stay an enjoyable one. Welcome packs are available and day trips and other activities can be arranged through them. Use of a tour guide is also available should you wish to hire this service.
There is fully tiled flooring throughout the apartment and two useful storage areas for beach items and cleaning equipment. Both bedrooms have adequate storage in the form of built in wardrobes. A feature of the property is its fabulous view of the pool and surrounding secluded gardens which are lit up at night by attractive and well positioned lighting.
The kitchen is equipped with all necessary items such as fridge/freezer, washer and microwave and useful enclosed outside area for drying washing. The decor is simple but tasteful and there is ample room for storage of luggage etc. Ideal for families with children as you can keep a watchful eye on them as they splash in the pool while you sit on the balcony enjoying a refreshing drink. Every amenity is nearby, including a supermarket, cash point and bars and restaurant, most of which are only 10 minutes walk away.
There is 24 hour gated security and underground parking. The development provides a totally safe environment for a family holiday and the delightful gardens are well-planted with a colourful display of exotic plants and swaying palms.
There are showers and toilets around the pool area and a children's pool. LIife guards and pool attendants are on hand to make the environment safer. Every amenity is provided in this modern purpose built complex which must be one of the finest of its kind. A ball games court is also available for residents' use. The complex enjoys a breathtaking mountain backdrop, an on site cafe and several small retail units.
There is a supermarket and cash point just over the road plus a wealth of shops, bars and restaurants lie well within walking distance. Scuba diving, golf and fishing trips can be arranged nearby and a wealth of other activities and day trips are available at reasonable cost should you wish to venture further afield.
Even the tourist who does not drive will find they will not have far to go in order to enjoy their stay. Within walking distance is an aqua fun park which offers all day entertainment for the family for only a few Dirhams’. Close by are two marinas offering water-based activities and miles of golden sands at Tamuda Bay, to rival those of the Caribbean. The King of Morocco himself has been known to go jet skiing here and has one of his summer palaces nearby.

Location description
In the apartment's immediate vicinity is the Marina Smir/Tamuda Bay area on Morocco's fashionable Costa Vista. Marina Smir is Morocco's equivalent to Puerto Banus on Spain's Costa del Sol. Although Spain is only nine miles distant, northern Morocco offers an opportunity to discover a totally different culture and atmosphere as well as providing a tranquil atmosphere that Spain has sadly lost.
Between Marina Smir and Tetuoan there are miles of unspoilt beaches and scenery to enjoy at Tamuda Bay. This area is also known as "The Golden Mile "because of its popularity and wealth of activities on offer. An excellent selection of activities is also available to holidaymakers in the town of M'diq which boasts a wonderful selection of seafood restaurants and shops in a pleasant pedestrian-friendly environment.
There is a huge Marjane Supermarket where you can purchase a wide variety of goods on the way to of Tetouan. A short journey by car will take you to this unique town, a mystical, magical place set high in the mountains. Here you can see another of the King's many palaces and discover the ancient cobbled streets of the Medina. You can barter for souvenirs to your heart's content, returning home with excellent gifts at amazingly low prices. The people are friendly and helpful and there are a wide variety of different activities available to provide even the most discerning tourist with a memorable holiday. You can sip mint tea in the opulence of an authentic carpet showroom and buy rare spices in the ancient Medina’s. A Guide is recommended here so the best attractions are not missed.
Tangier is only 40 minutes from the apartment via road and can easily be reached by taxi. The Tangier/Rif Mountains region offer the discerning tourist a wealth of activities. Tangier is the most northerly city in Morocco. There is an airport but most visitors approach from Spain. The city is a hive of activity with much to explore; it dates from ancient times and boasts several sites of antiquity. The sights and sounds of the souks, the old medina, the Muezzin calling the faithful to prayer and the bustling Medina, all succeed in making Morocco an increasingly popular destination.
Further advice and information can be given by direct contact with the owner who is happy to email prospective renters with photographs and any travel related details.
