Guest Reviews
Our second visit to MonteViste has been even better than the first (two years ago) and we hope very much there are many more to come. Abruzzo is our idea of holiday heaven and at Torre dei Nolfi it comes complete with guardian angels in the form of Paula and Clive. Thanks to both for the warmth of your welcome and comfort of our stay, and for the fantastic weather! We have now spent 18 nights here over 2 years and have yet to see a cloud in the sky at breakfast time. We are sad to be leaving but cheered by the certain knowledge that we'll be back soon to enjoy this super apartment and fantastic area. Best wishes, Ken, Anne and Edward... Oakham, UK
We came to find family and boy, did we ever!! What a lovely time we've had and such a cool soothing space to stay in. The apartment was spotless; Clive and Paula - you two were fabulous. Thank you for everything. Your knowledge of the area, the people and of course the Italian language was fabulous. Will send pics :o)... Pepper and Mark, Toronto, Canada
A wonderful escape from chaotic Roma to quiet and peaceful Abruzzo. Beautiful colours this time of year and we enjoyed the trip to Scanno. Girls just loved their room and the cats!!... Bruno, Helen, Sabinι, and Femkι, Roma, (Netherlands and Uk)
The MonteViste holiday apartment is just off the main square in the village, which had things going on every day of our stay. The apartment is lovely, with a balcony looking out over the mountains which makes a great breakfast spot. We explored Sulmona, the abruzzo national park, lake Scanno, as well as numerous medieval villages perched on mountains. Clive and Paula were exceptionally helpful and friendly, and I was very grateful for Clive's support when I had some trouble with our hire car. Highly recommended... Simon, Helen, Josie and Will, Reading, Uk
This is a beautiful apartment and has been the perfect base from which to catch up with some friends and to explore some more of Abruzzo the second time around. The wonderful meadows are an absolute joy, full of wonderful flowers, serenity and a cooling breeze! Clive and Paula are terrific hosts, (and very creative ones at that!). Thanks for the welcome provisions on our arrival, a couple of very memorable fish suppers and expert tuition in Italian! Our thanks and very best wishes to you both in your respective creative careers in music and textiles, truly inspirational!... Best wishes from Sue and Rich x, St. Ives, Cornwall, UK
We shall all look back on this holiday in Italy with great pleasure. It has really been a wonderful experience for us all. The apartment was beyond our expectations with stunning views from the balconies and breakfast/lunch/coffee on the patio. Clive and Paula have worked hard to create a stunning apartment and a great atmosphere of peace and relaxation. We have visited numerous places, all stunning, including Lake Scanno and Roccaraso up in the mountains; I could write more: Much love and thanks to you Clive and Paula.... Kingsley. Thanks for the great holiday it was fab! I enjoyed every minute especially relaxing on the beach in the sunshine... Hannah. It has taken a while to get here but I'm sure it won't be our last visit. Clive and Paula smoothed out many a worry about our first visit abroad and it has been a memorable holiday especially for us as a family... Jen, Appleby in Westmorland, Uk
A welcome as warm as Italian sunshine from Clive and Paula who have lovingly restored this apartment into a haven of peace and comfort. The views are mouth watering and we've enjoyed breakfast out on the decking each morning. Thank you so much for all you've done for us 'including translation'. We have fallen in love with Abruzzo, the whole region so beautiful. Can't wait to come back... Rosy and Steve with love, North Wales, UK
Thank you Paula and Clive for your oustanding help in making this trip possible for my sisters and I. You have been most patient in offering assistance in the planning, and much needed help with interpreting and in offering a place that has so much attention to detail with warm decour and beautiful craftsmanship. There is so much heart here; it has been the ideal location to enjoy the beautiful scenery of this land and people of Torre dei Nolfi and Bugnara. You have been blessed with a somewhat rare gift of deep hospitality. There are so many things to speak about but I mainly want you to know that finding a place to stay in is one thing, but finding hosts such as yourselves has made this a most treasured memory. Most of all we thank you for the gift of newly discovered family in Bugnara ... Kim, Oregon, USA

Location description
MonteViste is situated in a small Italian hill village called Torre dei Nolfi overlooking the Sagittario river valley and on to the majestic Apennine mountains beyond.Abruzzo
What shall we say about the region of Abruzzo? For one thing I suppose you could say we're a little spoilt here. We have three national parks and one regional park which altogether cover a third of the region and constitute 'Europe's Greenest Area'. We also have five lakes, three mountain ranges and 75 miles of coastline! We have three principle cities which are L'Aquilla, Pescara and Teramo. Several larger towns (called cittΰ) such as Avezzano, Chieti, Sulmona and Lanciano and then there are the hundreds of villages and hamlets (called paesini) to be discovered throughout the myriad valleys and mountains.
In the winter we have cross-country and downhill skiing on one of the many slopes, the most popular of which are centred around the ski resort of Roccaraso which has five chair lifts.
And in the summer we have 790 square miles of national and regional parks to explore, not to mention the miles and miles of beaches; the nearest are at Pescara forty minutes away.
Summertime sees the season of 'the festa', every town and village has its own patron saint and associated celebrations. Fireworks during the daytime - oh yes! Each festa is unique and generally involves lots of eating and drinking of local wines and speciality foods often followed by dancing late into the night.
