Description of holiday apartment in San Vito Dei Normanni, Puglia

The newly constructed half-Olympic length swimming pool is believed to be the most luxurious private swimming pool in the province if not in the whole of the Salento peninsula. The "infinity pool" type over-the-edge filtration system uses two sets of private swimming pool equipment to keep the sheer volume of water crystal clear.

The main pool is lightly sloped from 1.0 meters at the shallow end to a maximum depth of 2.8 metres - there are no abrupt depth changes. The "infinity pool" format also makes it easier for adults to watch over children in the main pool. (As the area is totaly private guests are required to ensure that a capable adult supervises children at all times).

The poolside recreation area (less than 70 metres from the door of Coratina) also has a six metre diameter linked children's pool of 60 cm depth. During all of 2009 guests at Coratina have the near exclusive use of both pools and the extensive around-pool area.

There is also a large walled-off barbecue and family eating area immediately outside Coratina's main entrance. The tarmac area beyond this is a broad, near zero traffic, private drive bordered with palm trees and flowering shrubs (from the photos some have mistakenly imagined it to be a public road!). The public road is about 150 metres down the drive.

The kitchen is open-plan with all tools and gadgets at the ready. When you arrive you will find the fridge and larder stocked the basics such as tea, coffee, milk sugar, pasta, etc. Additional you can pre-book a "first-shop" and be presented only with the supermarket tab - there's no service charge or mark-up. We need an e-mail of your shopping list at least 72 hours before arrival to provide this free service.

The main bedroom is generously sized with both a double and a single bed, and also an occasional bed. A baby cot is available on request. The second bedroom has two comfy single beds and is often used for older children. Both bedrooms have generous wardrobe space. The bedrooms and the bathroom (with full-size bath, separate roomy shower, wash hand basin, bidet, and WC) lead off from a small lobby on a well-lit and impressive open-plan floor area.

The lounge area has an open fireplace, a lower ceiling and two comfy sofas creating a cosy family area. There's a modern digital-terrestrial TV, DVD player/recorder, and access to English and Italian language TV. Here you'll also find board games, a well stocked library of English soundtrack DVDs and a CD player with an extensive selection of audio discs. For our French guests we now have the France 24 news channel.
