Description of holiday apartment in Roquetas de Mar, Costa de Almeria/Almeria Province, Andalucia

This spacious, ground floor apartment has 1 double & 1 twin room, lounge/dining-room with air-conditioning, private terrace with sunbeds, table & chairs, fully-fitted & fully equipped kitchen, utility room with washing machine & bathroom with shower.

We use the apartment as our own "second home" and have furnished it accordingly. We hope that it has all the facilities you need to enjoy a happy, peaceful break.

We regret that we do not allow pets in the apartment and smoking is restricted to the terrace.

Lounge/dining-room

The lounge/dining-room has 2 comfortable sofas, satellite TV & DVD player, a powerful air-conditioning/warm-air heater unit and a dining table seating 4. There's a library of books and a collection of DVDs to suit all tastes and ages. French windows provide plenty of natural light and lead directly onto the terrace.

Kitchen

The kitchen is fully fitted with large a fridge/freezer, full-size oven and 4-ring hob, extractor hood, microwave, toaster, kettle, etc. It's fully equipped for those who prefer to eat in, with plenty of glasses, crockery, cutlery and pans.

Utility room

The utility room, leading off the kitchen, houses an automatic washing machine, separate sink for washing out swimsuits & trunks, drying rack, iron & ironing board.

Bedrooms

The spacious double and twin bedrooms have large fitted wardrobes with plenty of hanging space, chests of drawers, bedside tables, lamps and free-standing fans.

Bathroom

The bathroom has a walk-in shower, marble sink unit with large vanity mirror, toilet, bidet and towel rails.

Terrace

The corner terrace overlooking the gardens & swimming pool has a table and 4 chairs for eating out, sunbeds and parasols. Its south-westerly aspect ensures sun from mid-morning to late afternoon.

Location description

The long EC Blue Flag beach at Roquetas is never crowded. Open shower facilities are provided at regular intervals. Sunbeds & parasols are available for a small daily fee. During the summer, watersports are available, including windsurfing, jetskis & sailing. There is a large municipal tennis centre, a popular waterpark & aquarium, a go-karting track and excellent golf facilities at Playa Serena, all within a 5-minute drive of the apartment.

The Moorish influence is still evident in parts of the old town of Roquetas, balanced by the facilities and comfort required of a modern tourist destination. The resort is very flat, with a wide pedestrian promenade running the length of the 10km beach. Building height is strictly controlled, to avoid the high-rise development seen on neighbouring coasts.

Numerous restaurants, cafes & bars cater for all tastes. Fresh, locally-caught fish and Andalucia's famous tapas are widely available.

For those wanting a break from the sun, the new, flagship Gran Plaza shopping centre on the edge of town contains many shops and cafes, together with a multi-screen cinema (with 1 film each week in English) and a bowling alley.

Bordering the resort on the south-west is a large, protected nature reserve & bird sanctuary. In the hills behind Roquetas are several "wild west" attractions, including "Mini Hollywood", where blockbuster films such as "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" and "Back To The Future" were filmed.

The ancient city of Granada (with the beautiful Alhambra Palace) and the ski-slopes of the Sierra Nevada are within a 2 hour drive.

Almeria province is said to have the warmest climate and the lowest annual rainfall in Spain, making Roquetas a popular, year-round resort.

Directions

The apartment is just a 30 minute drive from Almeria airport (with regular flights from Gatwick, Luton, Manchester, Birmingham, Stansted, Dublin & Leeds/Bradford).

Almeria is served by several airlines including Monarch, Easyjet, Ryanair and Jet2.

Private pickups from Almeria airport can easily be arranged if required.

Alternatively, we would be happy to recommend car hire outlets based at Almeria airport.

The apartment is situated in a small complex on Avenida Sabinal, roughly mid-way between the old harbour, with many seafood restaurants & cafes, and the busier "urbanisation" with the larger hotels and bars.

We send a colour streetmap and detailed directions when a booking is confirmed. On-street parking is available immediately outside.

Alternatively, our recommended taxi-drivers know the apartment and can take you straight to the front door
