Description of holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Algarve

The apartment is one of twelve located on the first and second (top) floors in a small, family run resort only 1 km from the picturesque village of Praia da Luz. Because of its location and facilities Vilamar is popular with families, many of whom return year after year. It is easily reached from the airport at Faro (1 hour). The apartment has the appropriate 'Alojamento Local' licence.

The apartment overlooks the garden and pools, and has panoramic sea views. The resort has a main swimming pool and a toddler pool, set in spacious lawned gardens. Ample car parking is available. Reception staff are willing to assist and provide information about the area. Drinks are available from the bar when open.

Smokers were welcome but are asked not to smoke inside the apartment. Sorry, but no pets are allowed.

Please note that the apartment may be unsuitable for those who experience difficulty with stairs. Please enquire for further information.

Towels (changed mid week) and linen are provided but will you need to take beach towels with you. Gas, water and electricity is included.

Friendly local management of the apartment means that you can be rest assured of a personal service throughout your holiday.

Location description

The Algarve, a delight to visit at any time of year, is renowned for its dramatic coastline and its clean, safe beaches, which are ideal for families with children. The apartment makes an ideal base from which to explore this vibrant area of Portugal. The western Algarve boasts over 300 days of sunshine a year!

The ancient town of Lagos is about 7 km away, overlooking the beach at Meia Praia and the magnificent new marina. The old town is full of character, with its narrow cobbles streets and well maintained flower-decked squares. There is a wide choice of bars and restaurants, and a good variety of night life creating a lively and friendly atmosphere.

The Burgau Sports Centre is a short drive away where children can take part in supervised football, rounders, swimming games etc. Food and drinks available. Evening entertainment for the whole family is often available.

There is lots to do for the whole family in the local area:-
You can go to one of several superb beaches nearby. You can go 'dolphin watching' or for a day's sailing from the marina in Lagos : Take a boat trip round the grottos : Golf at the nearby superb Boa Vista and Parque de Floresta courses : A great range of watersports* is available on Luz beach : Visit the aquapark at Slide & Splash, or the aquatic animals at Zoomarine : Drive to the spectacular west coast and go surfing : Visit the nearby zoo, or go horse riding : Take a wander around the cobbled streets of Lagos, sampling the shops, bars,and restaurants, and varied street entertainment in the evenings : Maybe you might like to take a drive and take in some of the local historical towns, such as Silves or Monchique, or go shopping in Portimao. Or... just relax by the pools. There is something for everyone!

Fly to Faro - Vilamar is only an hour's easy drive from the airport. Cheap flights are available from most major UK airports. Car hire is available from on liine websites, or arrangements can be made for you if you wish.

Cars can be collected/returned at the Faro airport. Transfers from/to airport can be arranged. Please enquire with owner about travel arrangements if needed.
