Las Tortugas is a spacious country house near Mojacar in eastern Almeria, Andalucia. It has recently been renovated in order to provide two spacious two bedroom apartments, sharing a 10 metre pool and lots of sun terracing.

This apartment occupies the entire ground floor. It has two spacious bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom with large walk-in shower, an incredibly well equipped kitchen, sitting room and separate dining room. However the place which you are likely to spend most of your time, all year round, is the large shaded terrace beside the pool. It is fully equipped for dining and lounging around and just outside is a large barbecue.

The house is in an exceptionally peaceful spot with no near neighbours and fabulous all round views. One bedroom has a 1.5m bed, the other has 2 singles which are made up as a superking if required. The wall which divides the sitting room and dining room has a log burner with doors on both sides - ideal for keeping the entire apartment warm in the chillier winter months.

You are welcome to bring your well behaved dog, with prior written consent, but in the interest of tranquility children under 16 are only allowed if both apartments are occupied by members of the same group (consult us for details of the upstairs apartment, also sleeping 4, or see our website).

There are no near neighbours and the house sits in a half acre walled and gated plot, with covered parking for two cars and further parking for several more. Beyond the pool terrace the gardens are mainly laid out with shrubs, and there is a pen which houses many of the tortoises which give the house its name.

The popular and challenging Valle del Este golf course is literally just around the corner (2 minutes' drive) and there are another 3 courses within half an hour's drive.

Location description

Las Tortugas is ideally located for golfers. The popular if rather challenging Valle del Este course is literally a two minute drive away, Europe's only desert course at Desert Springs is about 25 minutes and there are further courses at Mojacar (20 minutes) and Cortijo Grande a bit further. Mojacar has a very long and excellent beach (three blue flags) with lots of bars and restaurants although not many night clubs - this is much more a chill out destination than one for throbbing night life. The Cabo de Gata Natural Park is little more than half an hour away with its stunning unspoiled beaches and boasting Europe's most important marine habitat - a paradise for divers.

The house is just 3 kms from exit 529 on the E15 Motorway
Although Almeria is the nearest airport and has Monarch flights from Birmingham and Manchester, there is much more choice of flights with Easyjet and Ryanair to Murcia and Alicante. When travelling to Murcia there is a toll of about €12 each way on the motorway.
