Le Waala 31 is located near the centre of this lively resort, yet far enough away from the many bars to be quiet and peaceful. The nearest ski lifts are located across the road from the apartment, and it is possible to ski to within 100 yards of the door.
Recently refurbished throughout, the apartment sports the following attributes:

2 single beds (in bedroom) and one brand spanking new double sofa bed (all duvets and bedding are provided).
Dining table and four chairs.
Fully appointed and newly installed kitchen, with combination air and microwave oven, fridge, hob, toaster, kettle, pans and crockery.
Colour television and DVD player.
South-facing balcony with views over the resort and surrounding mountains.
Bathroom with full-length bath and shower attachment, and critically, unlimited hot water! This is constant, so everyone can enjoy a hot bath after a hard day's skiing.
Ample storage space in the flat, and a locking ski cupboard on the ground floor.

Deposit/Booking Notes: Please note there is a locally-payable charge of €45 to Tory Wilson for cleaning, plus a further optional €45 for meeting and greeting, getting you the keys, showing you the workings of the building, etc., should you need this service. Bed linen is available for €10 per person. Linen is also optional, as you may wish to bring your own, but the cleaning isn't! Please let me know your requirements, so I can arrange for Tory to meet you on your arrival.
There is also a €350 security deposit (again payable locally through Tory's remote handset), which will not be deducted from your credit card unless damage/breakages warrant it, and only then in consultation with you. Fingers crossed, but we've never actually needed to do this...

Location description

Les 2 Alpes is a unique alpine playground in that it is one of the very few mountain resorts to offer a summer season every bit as exciting as a winter one. It is also a "real" town in that it has a resident population and community spirit, with all the facilities you'd expect to find in a small town. There are 220km of marked ski runs, with limitless off-piste. In summer, you can ski on the largest skiable glacier in Europe, mountain bike, hike or enjoy the various sporting facilities in the village.

Other activities

Endless miles of high alpine paths, sailing on the Lac du Chambon, bungee jumping, parapenting, canyoning, rafting, canoeing. You name it, it probably goes on either in Les 2 Alpes or nearby!

Local events

The ski season runs from the beginning of december to the May Day weekend, and the summer season from June to the end of August. The Tour de France always passes nearby, and occasionally starts or finshes a stage in the village.

Tourist attractions

If you've had your fill of high-energy activities, take a ride on a tracked bus across the Mont de Lans Glacier, or visit the ice caves carved into the eternal ice, 3400m above sea level.

Directions

Get on a plane and fly to grenoble (Gatwick and Easyjet are the simplest for me, but there's also Ryanair from Stansted and BA from Heathrow to Lyon) From Grenoble Airport, follow the autoroute A48 to Grenoble, through the town on the autoroute A480 (otherwise you end up in a traffic jam in the middle of town), leaving the A480 at junction 8 (Pont de Claix/Vizille/Briancon), whereupon you are on the N91. Follow this road up though Gavet, Livet and Bourg d'Oisans until you reach the Barrage du Chambon. Before crossing the dam wall, turn right up the mountain, and after a load of hairpins you appear in Les Deux Alpes. The building is on the right hand side shortly after the climbing wall.
Alternatively, get the no7040 shuttle bus from Grenoble Airport to the town's bus station, and then bus no3030 direct to Les Deux Alpes. These are timed to fit in with flights, but check at www.vfd.fr for times. The buses are dirt cheap, at about €10 each way. www.satobus-alpes.com and Ben's Bus do similar things from Lyon airport.
