Our farmhouse-villa dates back to the XII century and is a perfect example of a beautifully and traditionally restored Tuscan country retreat. Immersed in the immense beauty of the Tuscan countryside, IL CAVATO is in close proximity to major areas of interest. The Villa has been perfectly restored by Mrs Barone over a period of three years and work was completed on January 2008. It is divided into 4 independent large apartments comprising of the most up-to-date amenities and comforts. Two of the apartments are available for rent: the CAPRIOLO (max 7 persons) and the BRACCONIERE (max 5 persons). Delightfully furnished, these apartments can be rented separately or together for groups of up to 12 persons. Our apartment CAPRIOLO sleeps a max of 7 people and it has a private entrance, at the same time belonging to our Villa estate. Sophisticated and decorated at high standard this apartment has a large entrance, which leads into a charming livingroom with fireplace. It has 3 bedrooms: one is a twin-bedded room, two are double-bedrooms. Further, if you are 7, a single bed may be added in one bedroom, but at the additional cost of 150 euro per week. The apartment has got also a very large diningroom, a kitchen fully equipped (oven,freezer, toaster, fridge, dishwasher, washing-machine, tumble dryer, laundry area), and the bathrooms inside this apartment are a total of 4, all with showers too. Satellite-Tv. Private heating. Private outdoor area equipped with outdoor furniture (chairs, table, etc) in order to eat or relax open-air. Beside this private area, a large and furnished common park has been settled for total relaxation, shaded from old and large trees enriched with Lavender, Rosmaryn, Jasmin, and Roses.
The lovingly and professionally restored farmhouse IL CAVATO is located in the heart of the Chianti region. Bordering a natural forest reserve, the country villa has stunning views over the Tuscan countryside and the flickering lights of Florence and the Abetone mountain range in the distance. IL CAVATO is located 0,8 km from the quaint village of Poggio Alla Croce (where delicious traditional restaurants and pizzeria can be found, and which makes a lovely walk on summer evenings!). The village is situated on a hilltop with breathtaking views over the Val d'Arno (Arno River Valley) on one side and the valley of Florence and Abetone mountain range on the other. 2 km away in the opposite direction is the village of San Polo in Chianti, with local bar and caffe’, chemist, supermarket and all necessary amenities and 10 km away is the world famous town of Greve in Chianti, which is the hometown of the original Chianti Classic red wine the region is famous for.
Only 13 km from Florence, 50 km from Siena and 45 km from San Gimignano, it is an ideal location from which to explore the Chianti region. Furthermore, IL CAVATO is only 10 km from the greatest Golf Course in Tuscany, the Golf Club "Ugolino", with 18 holes, swimming pool, tennis courts and other recreational facilities. And for the high-end shopping addicts, it is only 20 minutes drive from the world famous outlet-shopping centre "The Mall". On bright spring and summer mornings the top of the famous Dome in Florence can also be seen from the villa!
On your arrival, we will be happy to help you create an itinerary to discover the most beautiful little towns and villages the Chianti area has to offer, and in order to avoid long ques, on request we can also book tickets for you to visit the Uffizi or Accademia museums in Florence. The owner and accomplished international architect, Stefania Barone, lives on the estate and is more than happy to welcome you and advise you on how to make the most of your Tuscan experience.
Guests are free to wander the property, where there are over 20 acres of private land, ideal for enjoyable walks, which stretch into the forest and where deer, wild boar, pheasants and other flora and fauna of the region can sometimes be spotted. Well kept gardens, mature oaks, flowering magnolias, pomegranate bushes and fruit trees surround the villa creating a soothing and peaceful atmosphere.

Deposit/Booking Notes: Bookings shall be considered valid under the following conditions: 1) Advanced-payment of 35% of the total amount due. This pre-payment can be made by means of bank transference only. The total balance is due on arrival to our place, before the start of rental and it can be paid only cash. If you prefer, you may settle the balance by bank transference 15 days before your arrival date.
On arrival, the client must pay the owner or his appointee a deposit of Euros 350,00 cash. The deposit will be returned at the time of departure, but for holding back sums owed for any damage caused or for expenses not included in the contract (heating, extra cleanings and so on).In the event the deposit is not paid by the client, the owner or his appointee reserves the right to refuse the keys.

Directions

On the Highway A1 exit "FIRENZE SUD". After having paid the tool, turn immediatly right and take directions to ANTELLA-GRASSINA-IMPRUNETA. Then follow the directions to IMPRUNETA-GOLF UGOLINO. Pass the Ugolino Golf Club and follow to STRADA IN CHIANTI. From STRADA IN CHIANTI take directions to SAN POLO or SAN POLO IN CHIANTI. Pass the village of SAN POLO driving to Poggio alla Croce. Before arriving in Poggio alla Croce, about 2 km after having passed San Polo, you will see a small RED SIGN and a COUNTRY-ROAD on your right. The red-sign is saying "IL CAVATO". Follow this sign and the red-arrow on the country-road, and the first villa you will see on your right is IL CAVATO. Welcome!
