Description
Our privately owned holiday apartment is located in Gosau in the Inner Salzkammergut which is a World Heritage Site. The nearest airports are Salzburg, Linz and Munich. A real home from home, the apartment is furnished and equipped to a high standard.
As the apartment is situated within a hotel block, there is free Wifi in the reception area, and our guests have access to the small indoor swimming pool, saunas and relaxation area. There is a bar within the hotel, and guests can purchase meals in the dining room. From the balcony there are beautiful views down the valley. Just behind the hotel there are breath-taking views towards the Gosaukamm mountain range.
A visit to Gosau and the surrounding area is delightful at any time of year. The autumn colours are just beautiful. Take a boat cruise on Lake Hallstatt or on the Wolfgangsee. visit one of the many local, traditional inns where a warm welcome always awaits you, and the quality of the food is excellent. On a Friday in Gosau you can visit the local "Fish Hut" where you will be served trout freshly caught from the pond. Local home-made products for sale, including cheese, butter, wine, sheep skin slippers, bread and soaps.
Gosau is situated within the Dachstein West ski resort. A free shuttle bus calls at the hotel several times per day, and the slopes are just 5 minutes' drive away. Relax and enjoy traditional Austrian hospitality in the numerous rustic ski huts.The local ski school is ever popular. There is also an extensive network of cross country ski trails. The area is perfect for tobogganing and snow shoeing too. Other highlights in winter include romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides, traditional Christmas markets and there is the famous Hot Air Balloon Week in January. We can provide you with details of all the cultural events which take place throughout the year, and can put you in touch with local hiking guides, the ski school, toursist information etc.
The region is magnificent in summer too. Activities range from mountain biking to escorted hiking tours and bathing in the crystal clear lakes throughout the region. Visit Hallstatt and the oldest salt mine in the world with the longest miners' slide. In Obertraun you can visit the Giant Ice Caves, the Mammoth Caves and the Koppenbrueller Caves. Visit the husky dogs on the Krippenstein. Climb up to a traditional mountain hut, and you might even choose to spend the night there! There is a very famous hut up on the Dachstein glacier with overnight facilities. There are opportunities for climbing and numerous via ferratas. There are numerous cable cars available within the summer months too. Some of the high mountain plateaux are suitable for families with pushchairs.
Salzburg is just 45 minutes away by car. This is a beautiful city, famous for the Sound of Music and is a historic and cultural gem. Bad Ischl is well worth a visit too.
