Description of holiday apartment in Gosau, Upper Austria

Our spacious and sunny studio apartment sleeps 2 (+1 child), and consists of a large living room with twin beds to the rear, 2 sofas (for extra comfort) and a dining table at the front, opening onto the balcony.

Situated up on the 3rd floor, and south facing, our studio has one of the best views in the building! It is bright and sunny till dusk, and boasts spectacular views over Gosau valley to the Dachstein and ski slopes.

The bathroom consists of WC, hand-basin and mirror cupboard with a shaver point, and a bathtub with a powerful shower above.

The kitchen has all you need for the preparation of snacks, picnics and proper meals. In summer, dining on our balcony after an active or lazy day is blissful with the tinkling sounds of cowbells and distant church bells which create a relaxing and memorable atmosphere.

Dining out is very tempting, too, with such a wide choice of restaurants, in the village, lakeside or on the mountain-top! The hotel gives all apartment owners and guests specially discounted rates in the restaurant downstairs - so the choice is great!

Downstairs is the Vitalhotel complex (refurbished in 2011), giving us a super mix of sports-leisure-spa facilities, including free use of the pool, sauna, and ski-bus. Take the lift down for a swim, massage or cocktail before dinner or a game of ping-pong afterwards.

Location description

Gosau is located in the Salzkammergut's premier ski resort (Dachstein-West), amid the gorgeous lakes and mountain scenery, (The Sound of Music' film setting),
During the winter the valley is transformed into one of Austria’s best kept skiing secrets, and the snow is plentiful all season, replenished regularly with fresh powder.
Spring, Summer and Autumn are a delight with 400 kms of walking and biking trails to explore, exciting river sports, and sightseeing in abundance. Salzburg, St Wolfgang and the spa town of Bad Ischl (thermal baths), the Ice Cave, salt mine, swimming and boating at Halstatt, are all within easy reach. There is a golf course near Bad Ischll.
Why not try out some exhilerating activities like white water rafting, climbing and paragliding? Maybe a steam cog-railway ride up the Schafberg is for you? Or the Ice Cave and 5-Fingers panorama trail at Obertraun? A walk around our local lake is a must-do, with a delicious apfel strudel as a reward! Taking in the gorgeuous scenery from one of the mountain top or lakeside restaurants is exhilerating enough! Look out for a warm glass of gluewein in winter.

Directions

Gosau is in the Salzkammergut (lakes) region, 10kms west of Hallstatt, 65km south east of Salzburg (45 minutes drive).
Our apartment is located within the Vitalhotel in the Gosau valley at 760m. It is located 500m south of the junction of B166 and B1291, in the village centre, close to the small river.
If you are coming just for walking you can use the good local bus service instead of a car.
