Description of holiday apartment in Edinburgh, Edinburgh and Lothians
Winner of The Scottish Thistle Awards 2009 - Extra Mile
Going the extra mile comes naturally to the owners of Pilrig House Apartments, who make every effort to provide as many special touches as possible in this high quality self-catering accommodation.
Some of the many practices that Pilrig House employs, include sending prospective guests links to independent review websites and information on events and attractions before they arrive; accompanying overseas guests on their first drive in a rental car; a guest journal in every apartment where previous guests leave their hints and tips and providing Christmas hampers and decorations.
A finalist in last year’s Scottish Thistle Awards as well, Pilrig House Apartments provides a master class on how to provide service in the self-catering sector.

A-listed Pilrig House (built 1638) is an historic 17th-century Scottish townhouse, uniquely located in a tranquil park, yet it is only a short stroll, or 5 mins by bus, to Edinburgh's city centre and all the main attractions. The house has a fascinating history - it was owned by the same family, the Balfours, for hundreds of years. Robert Louis Stevenson's grandfather, James Balfour, lived here, and RLS visited and played in the gardens as a child. He mentions Pilrig House in many of his novels, eg Kidnapped and Catriona.
Debbie and Philip, the owners, let 3 luxurious, 4-star graded, apartments in Pilrig House; offering extremely comfortable, immaculately clean and beautifully furnished accommodation. All apartments are non-smoking, offer park and garden views, and, rare for Edinburgh, each apartment has an allocated (free) parking space in a private car park to the rear of the house.
