The Penang Island region
Penang sits on the northern tip of the Straits of Malacca. A charming and endearing city with a rich colonial past that combines the old and the new, it continues to enchant visitors. Fittingly, Georgetown, the capital of Penang, is a Unesco World Heritage site. If you haven't already heard, Penang is also a haven for 'foodies', especially if you like street / hawker food.

Climate
The climate of Penang is tropical / equatorial. Day temperatures range between 24 to 31 Celsius. While Penang does not have a true dry season, December to February tend to get less rainfall.

The Batu Ferringhi / Miami Bay area
Miami Green Condominiums is located in the Batu Ferringhi area, on the northern part of Penang Island. Batu Ferringhi is well known for its stretch of leading hotels with sandy beaches and the surrounding shops, restaurants, cafes, hawker stalls and night market that serve hotel visitors as well as locals, all of which give Batu Ferringhi its 'village' feel. There is a 7-11 convenience store for essentials.

Miami Green Condominiums is within a stone's throw from its own cosy stretch of sandy beach (about 7 minutes walk) with some small shops serving foods.

For your daily food shop and other needs, you will be well-served by Tesco (at Straits Quay) and Cold Storage (at Island Plaza) where you will find familiar brands as well as fresh produce and local favourites. Both are located in the Tanjung Tokong area and close to each other (around 15 minutes by car from Miami Green).

Tourist attractions

Penang has much to offer its visitors, depending on their inclinations and interests - history buffs (e.g. Georgetown), culture vultures (e.g. temples), naturists (Penang Hill, National Park), foodies (e.g. Gurney Drive, Fruit Farm) and shopperholics (e.g. Gurney Plaza) should take particular note. There are also special events that take place during specific times of the year such as Thaipusam and Dragon Boat Festival.

(1) Arrive at Penang International Airport - served by a range of airlines including Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Air Asia, Firefly Airlines. The airport is located in the southern part of Penang Island. Note that the airport is undergoing major renovation works at the moment although flight services are running as scheduled.

(2) Miami Bay Condominiums is located in Batu Ferringhi, the northern part of the island known for its sandy beaches and luxury hotels.

(3) A taxi from the airport is the best way of getting to the apartment, especially after a long flight. Taxis at the airport are readily available. There is a taxi counter at the arrival lounge at a prescribed coupon rate. Always confirm the price with a taxi driver as a matter of good practice.
